Shuttle ServiceOur shuttle busses will drop you off at the main entrance of JavaLand and pick you up again. For all departure times and routes please check the plan on the back cover.

Parking SpacesFree parking spaces are available in front of entrance “Berlin”, at Hotel Matamba and near Hotel Ling Bao. In order to use them, you

Visitor Service have to draw a ticket. Get a free ticket at the Infopoint or at the reception desk of Ma-tamba before leaving the parking lot.

Beverage VouchersVouchers can be exchanged for coffee spe-cialties and soft drinks. Water, regular coffee and tea are not restricted. You can pick up four vouchers per day at the following locations:

Lecture Rooms & Community AreasAll lecture and community areas, as well as the new lecture rooms, are marked and lis-ted in the park plan on page 15. Just flip it open and have a look where to go.

A3 Silverado TheatreWalk up the stairs near Kaiser Snack. Then turn left towards “Pizza Mexico” 05 , head to-wards “Tacana” 06 and walk straight. Follow our displays to reach Silverado Theatre. From Hotel Ling Bao you can find displays that will guide you there.

A4 Lecture TentThe new “Lecture Tent” is positioned next to the stairs leading to Quantum.

A7 STOCK’s (formerly Eventhalle)The lecture room “STOCK’s” is located across the street from the main entrance. To get there, exit the park through the main entran-ce “Berlin”. Next to both registration booths there are staircases. Walk up the stairs ac-ross the bridge and follow our displays.

A8 RotundeTo get to the “Rotunde”, simply follow the passageway between the Quantum ramp and the JUG Café 02 and head left to the round building.

01 The Java Pinball MachineThis year, the Goldstadters are setting a new standard: at JavaLand 2017, they had already shown a pinball machine made of old wood, door openers, leftovers of metal and uncon-ventional electronics. Of course, a Raspberry Pi and a lot of Java was also used. The pinball machine has been reworked for the next edi-tion and is now even cooler! Come by and play with it, tinker with it, hack the code, or get explained how to build it!

A6 CloudNative Monitoring Hands-on with Prometheus and Grafana

Prometheus is an open source tool for mo-nitoring cloud infrastructures. In combination with the Grafana tool, this data can be visua-lized in individual dashboards. Learn how to use these tools to collect information from Java applications and infrastructure compo-nents, display it in dashboards, and use it for alerts in hands-on exercises.

A4 Java: The Missing ManualWe will take a closer look at various features and concepts of the standard Java API and use examples to demonstrate their usefulness. Learn how annotations work, how to develop a plug-in functionality without accessing OSGI or how to handle NullPointer exceptions.

A4 Refactoring of Legacy Applica-tions with the Micado Method

Refactoring is not actually as easy as people think. Refactoring legacy code is a complex task that can be handled best with an appro-priate method. The micado method helps to keep an overview and to develop and visua-lize a working solution step by step.

A5 Code GolfThe one with the fewest strokes wins – that is the principle of Golf. Code Golf has similar rules: Solve the task with the shortest Java 8 source code to win. This year, there will be an app that directly validates and tests your code, so that you directly receive feedback whether your solution works or not.
