Immanuel Lutheran Ladies AidThe 31st Annual Ladies Aid Craft Show of Immanuel Lutheran Church will be held Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in both school gymnasiums. The gymnasiums are located between Chestnut and Walnut Streets in Seymour.

The Country Neighbors "Home for the Holidays" Tour and Open House will be held November 7-9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Situated throughout the rolling hills and valleys of Jackson and Lawrence counties are 11 unique home-based shoppes, filled with homemade items, antiques, primitives and collections.

Jackson County participants include: Country Cabin Crafts, Black Crow Mercantile and Primitive Crow.

St. Ambrose Arts and

Crafts ShowThe 6th Annual St. Ambrose Arts and Crafts Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, in the St. Ambrose Catholic School Gymnasium.

The event is a fundraiser for St. Ambrose’s St. Vincent DePaul Society, which is a not-for-profit program established to help people in need. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Visitor Center Promotional Grant Program, Calendar of Event InformationJackson County Visitor Center’s 2014 Promotional Grant Funding application will be available beginning in December. Organizations with non-profit status can submit a completed application along with a copy of their 501 (c) 3 notification form for funding consideration for events, festivals or attractions which are slated to take place in 2014 and promote tourism within Jackson County. Churches with articles of organization are also eligible to apply.

Only one request from any one organization will be granted each year. Applications submitted prior to the date of the event and meet policy guidelines will be reviewed for approval by the Jackson County Visitor board during their monthly board meetings. The board meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Visitor Center office, 100 North Broadway in Seymour. The funding policy and application are available at the office.

Also, Visitor Center compiles a list of events, festivals and happenings in the county each year.

Events Throughout the County.....Sertoma Benefit Concert

The 6th Annual Sertoma Benefit Concert will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, at Pewter Hall, Brownstown.

All proceeds from the evening will assist the Sertoma Christmas Miracle, which helps bring Christmas to the less fortunate children in the community.

Live bands, a cash bar and raffles will be offered throughout the evening.

Tickets are $10 in advance and are available at Brooklyn Pizza Company in Seymour or Pewter Hall in Brownstown.

Girls Inc. Turkey Trot

Girls Inc. of Jackson County will be hosting the 4th Annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, November 28.

The 8K run and 5K walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. from the Girls Inc. parking lot, 956 North O'Brien Street, in Seymour.

The cost for early registration through

November 8 is $25 plus five non-perishable food items, which will be donated to Jackson County Human Services Food Bank. Late registration is $35 plus five food items. Children under 10 may register for half price.

Hoosier Heartland Alpacas Open House

Hoosier Heartland Alpacas will host the 4th Annual Christmas Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 30. The farm is located at 2500 North County Road 1000 West, in Seymour.

Guests can visit the country store, meet the resident alpacas, enjoy music, see demonstrations of spinning and even have their Christmas gifts wrapped, courtesy of an area youth group.

November and December are full of exciting happenings at the Jackson County Community Theatre, located on West Walnut Street, in Brownstown.

A Talent/Variety Show will be held at 7 p.m. on November 23. JCCT is looking for around 10-15 acts to perform, including music, acting, comedy, improv, dance and miscellaneous. All talent must audition on November 3 or 4, at 7 p.m. An audition form may be found at www.jcct.org.

On November 22, the JCCT will offer a History Lecture Series on the Life of John F. Kennedy. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and will be given by JCCT board member Darin Richart. The event is free but goodwill donations will be accepted.

The presentation will feature a discussion along with video about the childhood, rise to power, presidency and untimely demise of the 35th president of the United States.

“A Tuna Christmas” will be performed at 7:30 p.m., December 6, 7, 13 and 14, and December 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the Royal Off-The-Square Theatre in Brownstown.

“A Tuna Christmas” is a wildly funny two-man show set in the fictional town of Tuna, Texas. The two actors team to play a total of 22 characters, both male and female, who are preparing for the town’s upcoming Christmas home decorating contest and the town Christmas pageant.

The cost of a regular admission to a performance in the theatre is $10, and is discounted to $8 for senior citizens and students. Tickets are available in advance at Family Drug in Brownstown, and at Bevers Family Pharmacy in Seymour. Tickets are available at the door.

The Jackson County Community Theatre and Brownstown Fund for the Arts will sponsor a viewing of the vintage Christmas film, “Christmas Vacation,” at 6:30 p.m., on December 21. For information about this event, call the theatre at 812-358-JCCT or visit www.jcct.org.

Community Diner Offers Holiday Home TourThe Community Diner will sponsor a Holiday House Tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 7. The event is a self-guided tour of homes in the Seymour and Jackson County area. Tickets are available starting November 7 and are $10 per person.

The Community Diner is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing free meals to the community one Monday per month. Community Diner meals will be served on November 18 and December 16, at the Seymour Community Center, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
