Learn from distinguished scholars how the law touches virtually every aspect of our lives. Many of our professors hold, in addition to their law degrees, advanced degrees in fields ranging from architecture to philosophy and many have written leading textbooks in their subject areas. A diverse body of adjunct faculty, drawn from the judiciary, corporations and private practice, augments the expertise of the full-time faculty. Students get to know and exchange ideas freely with all of them, thanks to a low student-faculty ratio and small classes.

TEACHING AND MENTORSHIP

UConn Law faculty hold doctorates in Economics, English Literature, European History, History, Jurisprudence and Social Policy, Philosophy, Political Science, Politics, and Social Anthropology.

The stately UConn Law campus is set in the historic West End of Hartford, midway between New York and Boston and 28 miles from the university’s main campus in Storrs. The vibrant center of West Hartford lies two miles to the west and the shops, restaurants, museums and theaters of downtown Hartford are just two miles to the east.

AN OUTSTANDING LOCATION

Connecticut’s historic capital city is alive with arts, culture, new ideas and projects. It’s the center of the state legislature and court system, a nexus of the insurance industry and home to the prestigious Wadsworth Atheneum, the nation’s oldest public art museum, and expansive Bushnell Park, its first public park. Opportunities for interdisciplinary studies are growing at the University’s Graduate Business Learning Center and a new downtown Hartford campus, both within a few miles of the law school.

The classrooms and offices at UConn Law are spread among five Gothic Revival buildings, including one of the largest law libraries in the world, on a tranquil 17-acre campus in Hartford’s West End. Inside, students find cutting-edge classroom technology, top-notch research facilities, two courtrooms and a multitude of comfortable spaces for conversing and studying. The law school extends its warm community spirit beyond campus with a lively calendar of conferences, symposia, lectures and social events for students, alumni and the public.
