Lottruphus i s located in Hammershøj in Denmark and is one

of those p laces that are rare ly found anymore these days . The

house is grand and splendid, and the garden too. Not many

people have a garden of 2 .5 acres (10.000 m²) but the house

owners JP and Ole do. The house was constructed in 1939-

1940 for dry goods store owner Jens R ing C leemann, and i t

wasn’t h is home but only h is summer res idence. Back then

was a complete ly d i fferent t ime when the wel l -off middlec lass

moved into their summer res idences in the countrys ide in

May and d idn’t return to their homes unt i l October. Jens R ing

C leemann was born on the neighbor ing farm of Lottrupgård.

Later in l i fe , when he had establ ished a thr iv ing dry goods

store, he was able to construct Lottruphus in h is nat ive p lace.

The garden was establ ished at the same t ime as the house was

constructed but not in the current shape. In 1984, when JP

and Ole came a long , the garden changed a lot . With i ts large,

o ld trees and beaut i fu l grass areas , the garden resembles a

park but i t a lso conta ins a path system that takes you to the

four terraces and no less than n ine pav i l ions .
