ABOUT US We came about when the son of Donna

and Phil Satow, Jed, committed suicide during his second year in college.

As of now we are the leading non profit organization to address the issues of the mental health and suicide among college students.

We do this through joining forces with the community and public to create an awareness and change in schools.

INPUTS We need to create more

programs in campuses. We need people and more

volunteers to use data, facts, and experiences to create better, more productive programs.

We need to bring enough awareness to change school policies and make their health services stronger.

We need more research done to take informed action against health diseases and suicide.

PROCESS We achieve our goals

through programs for: Campus professionals: videos, documents, a list of essential services.

Parents: online tools and advice and salient information to recognize signs.

Student: Half of us, Ulifeline, and Jerry Greenspan Student Voice of Mental Health Award.

OUTPUTS Because we work as a

team and with the community we are able to connect with the school, parents and student to create awareness.

More people are then aware of the signs which gives them the knowledge to help themselves or someone else.

Through knowledge we can influence people’s beliefs and behaviors to improve their lives.

OUTCOMES We have provided

a online hotline for students to get help nationwide.

We have become one of the greatest resources in helping students with distress diseases and suicide prevention.

Page 9: Jed foundation

“Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students and the third leading cause of death among all youth 15–24 years old.”

“Risk factors for suicide among the young include suicidal thoughts, psychiatric disorders (such as depression, impulsive aggressive behavior, bipolar disorder, certain anxiety disorders).”

“Studies indicate that the best way to prevent suicide is through the early recognition and treatment of depression and other psychiatric illnesses.”

CRITICAL THINKING

At the Jed Foundation we think creatively to bring about new ideas on how to reach out to everyone nationwide.

We search for better solutions to answer questions or solve a problem, the overall problem distress in college.

We monitor thinking by creating classroom PowerPoint.

We also consider theories and concepts from the public and the community to create new programs and change the school policies.

Page 12: Jed foundation

CRITICAL READINGWe read closely into

the student and what kind of pressure they are in at school.

We then evaluate the situation and join forces with schools and parents to talk about the situation on and.

We then do what needs to be done for understanding of the student and their health issue.

We organize the ideas and develop programs that can help with the problem and try to spread the word around.

CRITICAL ACTION

We combine skills from any one of our board members or supporters to develop more effective programs that any student can get access to.

We create videos that are empowering to students and how to live a healthier life.

We reach out to celebrities to speak and attend our annual Gala.

We also provide an award to a student who is working to stop distress in school.

We think that it is imperative that the community works together to create change.

PERSONAL CONNECTIONI have been in college only two years and I have developed many friendships here and at other campuses. Some of my friends have felt the stress to the extreme. They have even mentioned suicide because the pressure of school and what their future will be. I feel like it is substantive that the school provides help to people who are feeling that way.
