Reviews

“Jekka’s is a must-have book for everyone who loves gardening and cooking. I’m her biggest fan. The book is fantastic and so is her amazing knowledge of herbs. She has wonderful ideas to make your food taste the best and to make you feel good. This is the herb book to have.” Jamie Oliver

“There is probably no one in Britain who knows more about herbs than Jekka McVicar” Daily Mail Weekend

“...even after my first flip through...I felt inspired to take on a whole herb garden...Whether you are a seasoned gardener, a green-fingered chef or novice looking to break away from the parsley, you’ll find joy in these pages.” Annette Bayne, The Citizen

“What gives the book an edge on other titles on the same subject is the way we are given the whole picture...herbs are among the most interesting plants on the planet; McVicar makes the most of this aspect, delving into their history with a text that is both page-turning and witty.” Sunday Business Post

Jekka’s Herb CookbookPublished in hardback June 2010

For the first time, ‘queen of herbs’ Jekka McVicar offers over 250 original recipes using her top 50 garden herbs.

Jekka’s knowledge and passion for herbs is unrivalled. This book, featuring a chapter devoted to each herb, shows you how to grow and maintain your own; how to preserve them for later use; what to do with a glut and how to make the most of it; and how herbs can transform your cooking.

With stunning illustrations by Jekka’s daughter, Hannah McVicar, and a foreword by Jamie Oliver, this is a truly unique and beautiful volume that will be treasured by growers and cooks alike.

Reviews“Nobody is a better qualified guide than Jekka McVicar, who has spent a lifetime cultivating.. and using herbs. Part reference book, part cookbook, this will be equally at home in the kitchen and the potting shed.” John Koski, Daily Mail Food Book of the Week

“What’s exciting and clever about what Jekka has done with this book is that she’s focused on a ‘hit-list’: her top 50 cooking herbs of all time, and gives you delicious and exciting ways of using them.”Jamie Oliver

“...the book contains more than 250 original recipes. These include Tunisian salad with caraway seed and mint, which provides a classic mix of Middle Eastern flavours, while lemon verbena gives a citrus kick to a raspberry fool...the watercolour illustrations by McVicar’s daughter Hannah enhance the text beautfully. Jekka’s Herb Cookbook will add extensively to a chef’s knowledge, as well as inspire a wide selection of both savoury and sweet dishes.” Janet Harmer, Caterersearch.com
