East End artist Cross is known for her mysterious and inventive landscapes. In this recent series, Cross applies thinned fields of color onto wood, then later mutes the surface with washes and glazes. Onto these backgrounds she conjures memories of childhood, current events, dreams, and daily encounters through a combination of random marks and deliberative images. Tension, balance, gravity, fragility and a fleeting sense of time are among her subjects. Cross received her MFA from Pratt Institute. She has exhibited extensively throughout the East End over the last two decades, where she also resides. Additionally, Ms. Cross is a highly regarded Art Educator and is Chair of Visual Arts at the Ross School. Fall Gallery Hours: Friday & Saturday, 11 AM - 5 PM, Sunday, 11 AM - 4 PM Or by appointment Above: Non Finito, 2018, oil on wood, 48 X 60 inches For further information and/or images contact Catherine McCormick [email protected]
