A multi-storey housing complex considers affordable housing concepts, adaptability and sustainable community development. Basing the design on a modular four foot grid aims to eliminate waste while reducing housing prices. The community layout maximizes southern exposure and green spaces and automobile reliability is reduced through mixed-use zoning.

The “GTIS” office design aims to promote flexibility as well as Canadian technology. The multi-level fit-up project includes staff and support spaces as well as a conference centre. Conceptually, the focus is on the uniqueness of the Canadian winter and the contouring shapes created by the snowdrift.

FIRST PLACE, Ottawa Magazine Office Design Competition, Team Project.

Featured in October 2007 Edition of Ottawa Magazine.

The Goal: to create a functional office space that lives and breathes the brand. The space becomes a 3d interpretation of a magazine with focus and layout following a grid, spaces acting as pages and a corridor acting as the spine which holds it all together.

FULL CIRCLE REHABILITATION

I N T E R I O R D E S I G N , B A A

A multi-level rehabilitation unit for kids focuses on rejuvenation and the process to recovery. The concept of coming ‘full-circle’ in their recovery is carried through the design using curvilinear forms and by creating a sense of flow from space to space. Lighting, furniture, materials + finishes are selected with careful consideration for a healthcare environment.

A new location for a non-North American fashion designer incorporates planning and finishes synonymous with luxury and modernism. FIRST PLACE, Norma Ruth Ridley Scholarship 2009.

The scenario: An art gallery with limited finances is relocating to 3000-5000 square feet on the second floor of a heritage building zoned for commercial use. The owner is highly motivated by recent articles on “Going Green” and sustainability, but given the economic down-turn, is hesitant about the costs involved.
