FORMAL EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Georgia Southern University,

Statesboro, Georgia, May 2014

Relevant Courses

PROJECTS

Autonomous Satellite Downlink Receiver System Antenna, 2012

Lead a team of Georgia Southern University’s engineering students to design and construct an affordable

antenna to communicate with low earth orbital satellites. Used Matlab running a genetic algorithm to

simulate antennas to optimize, gain and be effective in dual band (VHF/UHF) conditions. Constructed an

antenna designed from the most ideal fitness function after running a large simulation. We designed custom

printed circuit boards to relay data to and from the computer and microcontroller directing the custom

antenna.

Georgia Southern University’s Journey to the Stratosphere

Worked in a team comprised of the Georgia Southern University’s Dean of Science and Mathematics,

multiple meteorologists, and a filmography team to launch a 3-dimensional version of Georgia Southern

University’s mascot to 102,000 feet. Personally designed a custom circuit to interface with a ground station

to be able to track the weather balloon over long distances in real time using amateur radio. This interface

allowed the team to locate the payload after the flight. Also designed the payload container to withstand

extreme temperatures and impact upon landing. Designed a “remote cut circuit” to disconnect the payload

in event the payload traveled in an unwanted direction.

Robot Ping Pong Champion, 2014 Worked with a team to design and prototype a simplistic, cost effective robot to compete in a game of the

robotic version of “ping pong.” Wrote and debugged code to use Proportional/Integral/Derivative (PID)

logic to guide the robot around the table in a strategic manner while detecting the various stimuli. As well

as engineering the mechanical platform for drive and controller components.
