Vital Facts

Since 1953, we were committed to improving the health and well-being of Veterans and their families. We are a 200-bed inpatient facility located at 820 S. Damen Ave. in Chicago. The facility operates four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in the Lakeside (downtown) area and Auburn Gresham (south side) community of Chicago, a clinic in Chicago Heights, IL, and the Adam Benjamin, Jr. VA Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point, IN, which serves four counties in Northwestern Indiana.

The Medical Center offers comprehensive care with bed services in acute medicine, surgery, psychiatry, neurology, audiology & speech pathology, social work services, dermatology, prosthetics, vision care, and rehabilitation medicine. We are a teaching hospital, with affiliations with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, University of Chicago Pritzer School of Medicine and the University Of Illinois Chicago College Of Medicine. The facility provides a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Specialized programs exist in comprehensive care as well as non-invasive cardiology, radiology, dentistry, geriatrics, behavioral health, physical and occupational therapy, and pharmacy services.
