Jesse Marez brings close to 30 years of utility related experience and knowledge as a renewable energy consultant in comprehensive services on all utilities for efficiency, generation, storage and conservation. In the last several years Jesse has focused on LEED sustainable practices in the alternative energy industry with the emphasis in renewables and its related products and services. Through his project management experience, Jesse has led a number of project teams ranging in size from 2 to over 100 staff members.

As an electrical engineer with an earned Bachelor’s of Science degree from California State University, Los Angeles, Jesse directed his passion for engineering and the energy market early in his career, where he began with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). For nearly a decade he honed his skills in a variety of departments specifically relating to the services to Major Executive Accounts within the DWP’s service area, where he was the liaison to incorporate all programs to support the clients with efficiency and conservation efforts.LADWP, he played a key role that developed LADWP’s Power Marketing and Sales Team using non-traditional methods of selling excess energy for additional revenue. Jesse left LADWP in the height of the energy deregulation to pursue and to expand his experience in the private sector and worked for large corporations such as PG&E, Commonwealth Energy Corporation and Energy Masters International, a subsidiary of NRG to manage and develop utility programs.

In his experience, he has developed an intricate knowledge for municipality governance and policy implementation. He has a strong foundation in sustainable energy and utility related products and has worked on numerous residential, industrial, commercial and public agencies projects with values of up to $750 Million. He brings a high level of problem solving with strong oral and written communication skills and is able to find consensus between diverse ranges of stakeholders.

Cold Ironing Electrical Infrastructure Substation Project (Port of Long Beach)Responsible for overseeing the construction, installation, and commissioning of a $7 Million underground medium voltage (6600V) electrical distribution system that serviced a control and power reel which provided electricity to connected ships when docked on the pier (a process called “Cold Ironing”). Prepared all inspection reports, field electrical engineering services and weekly progress presentations to the team and LB Port Management.

SunEdison Inc.Worked with SunEdiso and its associated partner PermaCity & its project operations management to determine the services and requirements that are needed to complete the LADWP Fit-50 Rooftop Solar Program projects, which are a key for the City of Los Angeles and its success of the Beacon Solar Project.
