I am a creative and dedicated trained Journalist; who is passionate about the English language and writing. I am an individual who thrives in high-pressured environments. I have excellent technical skills and knowledge in SEO, CMS, copywriting, filming and editing videos (Premiere Pro), designing magazine content (InDesign) and coding (Dreamweaver). I have also studied and worked in PR. From 2012-2015 I read Journalism with English Language at Portsmouth University, where I achieved a 2:1.

Work Experience History

March 2016 – Present Pulse Magazine (Cogora) – Primary Care MagazineDigital Intern

Writing and researching news pieces about health and politics such as the Junior Doctor’s contract. Working extensively with Adobe Dreamweaver (html & css) in order to produce email newsletters. Updating and maintaining two Cogora websites that are powered by Webvision and Wordpress. (CMS) Filming and editing video interviews with leading health officials such as the chief executive of the NHS On a monthly basis I was instrumental in building Pulse’s online magazine. I also assisted the social media manager by composing and scheduling Facebook posts and tweets. For

this I used the social media platform Hootsuite (SEO)

Writing fashion articles, such as Style Guides. Uploading articles onto Word Press.

Helping manage company’s social media profile. Writing fashion, film and music based articles and researching new and upcoming musicians. Photographing and reporting at national fashion events such as London Fashion Week and LCM. Preparing interview questions.

Writing and editing online pieces. This was challenging and rewarding, as I had to adapt my writing style to a different genre, which illustrates versatility.

Setting up the NEWCARNET’s new website, and becoming knowledgeable of Square Space.

Education

Throughout my time at university I have developed both in terms of confidence and independence, as well as expanding my technical skill set. Key examples of my university work include:

An 11,000-word thesis that discussed Islamophobia in the Media and how they should be held accountable. The dissertation received a 2:1 overall.

The PR campaign: #KNOWYOURHANGOVER targeted students in order to raise awareness of Meningitis and the danger it poses. The project included preparing a press pack, designing supporting material and pitching the idea. Altogether I received a first for the unit.

As part of a team I helped create, design (InDesign) and write content for our new magazine. CULT focussed on alternative sub-culture news and reviews in the UK. The magazine received the highest mark of the year.

I filmed and edited a documentary short as part of my NCJT in Visual Journalism and Visual Journalism unit. This 3-minute film achieved a first.

Other Interests

At university I volunteered for 18 months for the charity FoodCycle. The charity helps serve up food to vulnerable people on the poverty line.
