Page 9: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

1st Feast: Passover

• Starts on Nisan 14 at Sundown, finishes on Nisan 15 at Sundown

Page 10: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 1st coming Fulfillment• Crucified on Nissan 14, 3790 (Wednesday April 5, 30 AD most probable date

but there is uncertainty, we know for sure that Pontius Pilate was Prefect of Judaea from 26-36 AD)

• Nailed to the cross at 9 AM • Mark 15:25 And it was the third hour when they crucified him• Died at 3 PM• Matthew 27:46-50 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud

voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”. And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

• Mark and Matthew reports hours the Hebrew way, from dawn:6 AM + 3 Hours = 9 AM6 AM + 9 Hours = 3 PM

Page 11: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 1st coming Fulfillment

• John 19:30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Page 12: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

2nd Feast, Unleavened Bread

• Nisan 15• Jews remove all leaven (representing sin) from their home

and eat only flat bread, or Matzah• One of the rituals involved wrapping a piece of Matzah, which

was traditionally “striped and pierced”, in a linen napkin and hiding away to be found later by the children, who would then receive a reward.

Page 13: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 1st coming Fulfillment

• The “striped” and “pierced” body of Jesus who is the “bread of life” and the “man without sin”, was wrapped in linen shroud and lay hidden away in the tomb.

• Matthew 27:59-60 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away.

Page 14: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

3rd Feast, Feast of First Fruits

• The day after the Sabbath that follows Passover.• High priest would ceremoniously wave a sheaf of the first

fruits of the barley harvest before the Lord.

Page 15: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 1st coming fulfillment• Representative of the “First Fruits” of the “harvest of the

redeemed”, Jesus arose from the dead on the Feast of first Fruits.• Matthew 28:1-6 Now after the Sabbath (Plural), toward the

dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

Page 16: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 1st coming fulfillment

• 1 Corinthians 15:20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Page 17: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

4th Feast, Feast of Weeks

• Sivan 6• Also called “Pentecost”• 50 days after the Feast of First Fruits• Observed with two large loaves of bread• Loaves memorialized the giving of the Ten commandments at

Mount Sinai, at which time, “God’s Law was written on two tablets of stone”

Page 18: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 1st coming Fulfillment

• Exactly 50 days after the Feast of First Fruits, the Lord sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in the hearts of the believers. The Law was written not on tablet of stones but on the hearts of those who would receive him.

• Acts 2:1-4 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Page 19: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

5th Feast, Feast of Trumpets

• Tishri 1st

• Rosh Hashanah, 1st day of the Jewish Calendar, seen as a type of “New Years Day” for Israel

• Blowing of trumpets 100 times, both in the Temple and in the land. The 100th, or last, trumpet blast was known as “the last trump”

Page 20: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 2nd Coming• The Rapture• 1 Corinthians 51-52 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep,

but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

• Thessalonians 4:16-17 the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

• Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”

Page 21: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 2nd Coming

• The Torah calls the Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, or ”the day of awakening blast”

• Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.

Page 22: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 2nd coming

• Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 “But of that day or hour no one knows”

• The Feast of Trumpets was known as “the hidden day”: in part because its commencement was uniquely dependent on the first sighting of the New Moon.

Page 23: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus 2nd coming

• Due to the uncertainty inherent to sighting a tiny sliver of the crescent moon, as well as the secondary issue of notifying everyone that the feast had begun in time, the Feast of Trumpets became the only two-day holiday practiced in Israel.

• So speaking of the timing of the Feast of Trumpets, the Jews would typically say “Of that day and hour no one knows”

Page 24: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

6th Feast, Day of Atonement

• Tishri 10• Yom Kippur, it was on this day that the High Priest was

allowed behind the veil of the Temple into the “Holy of Holies”, where he would plead forgiveness for Israel in the presence of God’s Glory

• The day of Atonement is also known as “the day of Face to Face with God”

Page 25: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus Second Coming

• Israel will turn towards the one they pierced• Zechariah 12:10-11 And I will pour out on the house of David

and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

Page 26: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

7th Feast, Feast of Tabernacles

• Tishri 15 to 21• Israelites were commended to build a “tabernacle” or Sukkah

(temporary hut), and to inhabit it• In Exodus God commended the Israelite to build a tabernacle

so he could dwell amidst them

Page 27: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Jesus Second Coming

• The feast of Tabernacle will be observe in the millennium.Zechariah 14:16 Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

Page 28: Jesus First and Second Coming thru the Feasts of the Lord

Conclusion

• Jesus first coming fulfilled the first four Feasts to the exact day and time. It seems logical that Jesus second coming will fulfill the remaining three Feasts on God’s appointed days too.
