1. JESUS IS WHO HE SAID HE IS

John 19:7

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

2. JESUS WAS EQUAL TO GOD

John 5:18 (NIV) For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

John 10:30 (NIV)“I and the Father are one”

John 5:20-22 (NLT)For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished. 21 For just as the Father gives life to those he raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to anyone he wants.22 In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge.

Implication: We have access to all authority and power to overcome

through Jesus.

Ephesians 1:19-21 (NLT)I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honour at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.

Power - Dunamis – strength, power, ability. Power for performing miracles.

3. SON OF GOD IMPLIED JESUS’ OBEDIENCE TO THE FATHER

John 5:19 (ESV) So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father

does, that the Son does likewise.

John 14:31 (ESV)But I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

John 15:14

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
