    1. FOREWORD

    The project is located at Air Anyer Village, Merawang District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province, which located in left side Baturusa river 700m from mouth of river, approximately 6km away from the Municipality of Pangkal Pinang.

    The plant will consist of two (2) units, having turbine generator net output of single figure in the range of 30 MW each. The commercial Operation Date (COD) and handover for the first unit of the plant shall be in Twenty-four months. The next units COD shall be in Twenty-six months.

    This proposal the location of piling test at the Jetty structure area, there are two

    (2) unit fixed grab crane standing on the jetty platform. Base on EPC contract the jetty structure foundation to be used pile foundation. According to the EPC contract the jetty platform should be used steel pipe pile material with diameter 609mm. The work scheme of pile loading test prepared according ASTM 1143-81 Standard test method for piles under static axial compressive load, ASTM D-

    2. ENGINEERING GEOLOGY EXPLAIN 2.1. GENERAL CONDITION

    The ground elevation of the plant site is about -2.40 m on the benchmark of

    local MSL. The bore holes and static cone penetration tests CPT) have been

    arranged in this geotechnical engineering investigation, and standard

    penetration tests (SPT) have been done in the boreholes.

    2.2. THE STRATUM CONDITION

    According to the test data of the boreholes and SPT from/below the ground surface to underground about 30 meters, the layers distributed as below:

    2.3. BEARING CAPACITY OF PILE According to the investigation information and pile axial compression capacity

    curve of steel pipe pile 609mm, the worst ultimate bearing capacity of pile with length between 22 ~24m is about 2250kn or and the maximum lateral forces is 200kn see below curves. The maximum design limitation bearing

    capacity of pile for axial compression load is 1100kn and maximum lateral forces 70kn.

    3. PURPOSES OF PILE TEST

    3.1. Whether the position of test pile at offshore need to be consider equipment or method for test, craftwork and technical requirements can meet the project requires will be checked up.

    3.2. The vertical bearing capacity of single pile will be identified to provide design basis for design of engineering pile.

    3.3. The horizontal bearing capacity of single pile for609 steel pipe piles will be identified to provide design basis for design of engineering pile.

    3.4. The integrality of welding steel pipe piles will be checked up through low strain dynamic test.

    3.5. The validated datum of contrast between dynamic test and static test will be established by high strain dynamic test to calculate the feature value of vertical bearing capacity of engineering pile in order to provide contrast datum for

    engineering pile tests.

    4. CONTENT AND METHOD OF TEST PILE

    4.1. LAYOUT OF TEST PILES One point of test pile layout of test pile is show in attached drawing a pile 609mm steel pipe pile and the other are some anchor piles for test pile. The test pile layout is show attached drawing in appendix (dwg no 2B0801-T1100-04) If the contractor of pile test adopts other equivalent method of test, he will decide if anchor piles are needed for test.

    4.2. CONTENT AND AMOUNT OF TEST PILE Testing piles should be conducted according ASTM code as above and PLN contract document or other equivalent regulations that are not lower than above

    mentioned codes. Elevation of test pile head is +2,89m that is based on the benchmark of the local MSL. The soil around piles should be excavated to elevation of -6,64m (from MSL) before pile test, or contribution of soil above El. -6.64m should be deducted from bearing capacity calculation. Low strain dynamic test, high strain dynamic test, vertical compression dead-

    load test and horizontal dead-load test shall be conducted for test pile. Specific content and amount of test pile are listed in tables 2 and 3.

    4.3. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

    4.3.1. Selection of piles

    The ultimate value of vertical bearing capacity, uplift capacity and horizontal capacity of single pile are estimated according to the geotechnical data from PT

    Soilent and in this case taken the extreme condition at SPT 49 which listed in Table 2.

    4.3.2. Steel Pipe Piles

    The steel pipe piles for the coal jetty shall be spiral welded with size 609 mm outside diameter with minimum thickness is 9.5 mm, the piles will be produced meet at least one of the following specification :

    a. API 5L b. ASTM A-53 (with mill certificates to confirm minimum yeild strength c. ASTM A-252 with the following provision :

    - Chemical analysis of material shall show that both the equivalent

    carbon content and total carbon content are less than 0.30% - Unless spiral welds are certified as conforming to the requirement

    of ASTM A53 or API 5L-1980, weld shall be 100% inspected by ultrasonic or electromagnetic inspection according to the requirement ASTM A53

    - The pipes joint shall be fully penetration weld. All weld shall be inspected by ultrasonic or electromagnetic inspection with 100% for the first 3m of weld for each position for each welder.

    Thereafter, shall be random spot examination of 1 pile joints for each additional 10 piles joint of weld, If any random spot fails to meet the acceptance standard, 2 additional random shall be examined at locations on each pile joints from the failure random

    spot, if still fail to meet the acceptance standard, the entire welds

    of 10 pile joints shall be completely examined. Welding practice and qualification of fabricator shall conform to the

    requirement of American Welding Society (AWS) Welding code AWS D1, 1-86. Product shall have quality certification and qualification certificate ex factory.

    4.4. EXPERIMENT OF TEST PILE Experiments of test pile will be conducted according to ASTM 1143-81 Standard test method for piles under static axial compressive load, ASTM D-

    4954-1996 Standard test method for High-Strain dynamic testing of piles, ASTM D-3669 Method of testing individual piles under static axial tensile load and ASTM D-3966-90 Standard test method for piles under lateral load

    4.4.1. Vertical dead-load compression test of pile The vertical dead-load compression test of pile will be conducted according

    to ASTM 1143-81 Standard test method for piles under static axial compressive load

    The persistent slow speed load method is adopted in the test. The second grade load will be applied before settlement of the first grade load is stable. The third grade load will be applied before settlement of the second grade load is stable and so on until 200% design load. Every grade load is 25 percent of estimated bearing capacity limit per single pile. The first grade load can be added according to double split grade load.

    The reading will be observed at the time of 10min, 20min, 30min, 40min, 50min, and 60min within the first hour of load that is added during every grade, and then once observation is conducted per 30min.

    Criterion of settlement stable: the settlement shall not exceed 0.25mm per hour, and does not occur twice continuously. (The calculation is based on thrice continuous observed value within 1.5 hour ). Conditions to stop adding load: When one of following conditions occurs, adding load may be stopped.

    a) Settlement of certain grade load is fivefold settlement under the action of the load in front of one grade;

    b) The steep dropping section on Load-Settlement Curve (Qs) can be used to determine bearing capacity limit, and the total settlement of pile head exceeds 80mm;

    c) The settlement under the action of certain grade load is large than twice settlement under the action of the load in front of one grade, and the settlement cant be stable 24 hours late;

    d) Tensile force of anchor piles exceed the limit value of uplift capacity, or load reaches yield strength of pile body.

    The unloading and observation of unloading settlement: The unloading value is twice of adding load value. The residual settlement will be observed at the time

    of 15min after certain unloading grade. After twice observation, the third observation will be conducted 30min late, and then the load of one grade is

    unloaded. Last observation is done at the time of 3~4 hour after entirely unloading.

    4.4.2. Lateral dead-load test of single pile The test will be conducted according to ASTM D-3966-90 Standard test method for piles under lateral load. a) The lateral load as 25% of estimated vertical bearing capacity limit will be

    applied to pile head by oil jack, using anchor piles steel beam reaction set. Then lateral load will be applied by lateral oil jack.

    b) The single direction polycyclic adding load and unloading method is adopted. Every grade load is 25 percent of estimated bearing capacity limit of single pile. The first grade load can be added according to double split

    grade load. The load of each grade shall be maintained constantly. The reading will be observed at the time of 10min, 20min, 30min, 40min,

    50min, and 60min within the first hour of load that is added during every grades.

    c) Displacement observation: The reading will be observed at the time of 5min, 10min, and 15min within the first hour of every grade load, and then once observation is conducted per 30min, as well as the records shall be made. Until the displacement of one hour does not exceed 0.1mm, and twice

    occur continuously, the stability is thought to be reached. Then, the load of next stage can be added.

    d) The lateral bearing capacity limit for per single pile is submitted when the horizontal displacement of test pile is 10mm and 30mm. Adding load stops

    when the horizontal displacement is bigger than 30mm.

    4.4.3. Dynamic test of piles (for Unused Pile) The high strain dynamic test is adopted and the test will be conducted according as ASTM D-4954-1996 Standard test method for High-Strain dynamic testing of piles

    5. CONSTRUCTION OF TEST PILES A properly construction should serve as an adequate pile cap for testing purpose including supporting construction to withstand load during testing, the

    construction of test piles should be conducted according to ASTM 1143-81 Standard test method for piles under static axial compressive load, ASTM D-

    3669 Method of testing individual piles under static axial tensile load and ASTM D-3966-90 Standard test method for piles under lateral load

    6. ACHIEVEMENTS OF TEST The integration report of test pile is mainly served for providing engineering design parameters of piles. Achievements of test will be assessed combining

    CPT, DPT and other original test method.

    6.1. INTEGRATION REPORT OF TEST PILE Integration report of test pile will include following contents:

    a) Limits of vertical bearing capacity and horizontal bearing capacity of test piles;

    b) Load-Settlement Curve, Load-Displacement Curve; c) Dynamic test result of piles

    6.2. INDIVIDUAL REPORT OF TEST AND CONSTRUCTION a) Report of dead-load pile test. b) Report of dynamic test (Including low strain and high strain dynamic tests); c) Abnormal phenomena and treatments and results during construction;
