HUMBLY SHOWETH,-

Tbat this Year of Grace, 1910, is the 300th Anniversary of the coming to the Shli>res of 'Conception Bay of JOHN GUY and his C~paf!y as the Pioneers and Colonizers of I' The Londo~ and Bristol Company," to carry into ptactical 'effect a scheme of that Company for the Colonization of'lhi'.part of the Island of Newfoundland,-tbc first of Great Britain's Possessions beyond the Sea!, an'tl the K eystone of the North American Continent ;

I .. I That the efforts of the Company, under the guidance of ]aHN G uv, broua ht about the

opening up of the Island's marine resources, and laid the founda tions of the T dde, Commerce and Wealth that have been gained by our people since that time;

That it is proposed, therefore, to c:bmmemorate, in a fitting way, the founding of the se~ral. setdementa by Job~ Gu_y and his Company,-namely, the settlements of Cuper's Cove, Bnstol s Hope, and Mosquito Cove, and that such Celebrat1011 take place duriug the month of August next.

That the town of Harbor Grace (the Br1stol's Hope, of John Guy's day), has a distinctive right and valid claim to take part prominently in such celebration by reason of its beillR" a set· dement opened up, fostered and established by the energy and enterprise of J ohn t;uy-a right and claim that are amply and indisputably prO\'en by the records, diaries and letters. of John Guy, John Mason, Robert Hayman, and t\bbe Baudoiu.
