Paisley Tour Floats Friday Brad Paisley’s H2O World Tour

presented by Chevy will kick-off this coming

weekend with shows in Virginia Beach on

Friday and Washington DC on Saturday.

Paisley—whose current single is “Water”—

and his team have spent the last two

weeks regrouping after flood waters

ravaged the rehearsal space/storage

facility that housed his gear, guitars,

staging, lighting and video equipment.

Some equipment had to be replaced, some refurbished,

and rehearsals were moved to a different space last week.

The H2O World Tour will hit more than 75 cities in the

United States, Canada and Europe over the next 12 months

with special guests Darius Rucker and Justin Moore. The

tour will include a “Water World Plaza,” sponsored by Skinny

Water and Sea Ray Boats, where Easton Corbin, Steel

Magnolia and Josh Thompson will perform amid water-

themed activities. Proceeds will benefit Hope Through

Healing Hands’ campaign for clean, safe water.

Soundscan Stats From NARM Here’s some of the latest news from this week’s NARM

convention: Nielsen Soundscan reported that out of 98,000

albums released in 2009, only 2.1 percent sold more than

5,000 units. That same 2 percent accounted for 91 percent

of total sales. NARM president Jim Donio pointed out in his

opening keynote that 75 percent of albums sold in the US

are physical sales, and there were 2.5 million vinyl albums

sold in 2009 (Nielsen).

Swift Wins BMI’sPop Song of the Year BMI held its 58th annual Pop Music

Awards last night (5/18) at the Beverly

Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. John

Fogerty was presented with the

prestigious Icon Award, and RedOne

claimed his first-ever Songwriter of the

Year trophy. But once again the big

Nashville news came from superstar

Taylor Swift, whose “Love Story” took home Song of the

Year honors. Also on the list of last year’s top songs was

Swift’s “You Belong With Me,” which she co-wrote with

Nashville songwriter Liz Rose.

Broadminded Music Opens

Songwriter Rich Fagan has

launched Broadminded Music

(www.broadmindedmusic.com), a new

Nashville-based publishing venture, with

executives Tom Oteri Jr. and

Bridgette Fox. The partnership will

represent Fagan’s current songs as well

as catalog hits, including “Be My Baby

Tonight,” “Sold (The Grundy County

Auction Incident),” and “I Miss You A Little.” Fagan’s catalog

also includes cuts by Neil Diamond, Shania Twain, George

Strait, George Jones, Patty Loveless, Clay Walker and more.

The venture continues a publishing legacy first started by

the late Tom Oteri and Rich Fagan. “Since the tragic passing

of my friend and patron, Tom Oteri, I have found a new resolve

and inspiration to write songs that will live on,” says Fagan.

Catalog administration will be overseen by Los Angeles-

based Criterion Music. Chris Keaton of Criterion/KMV will

handle Nashville songplugging duties, while Fox will divide

her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Contact Fox at

310-770-8460.
