    COURSE SYNOPSIS:

This course consist of four modules

Module 1 Number system and functions

Sets: a review of sets. Real numbers: absolute values and inequalities.Complex numbers: operations on complex numbers, equalities of complexnumbers, Argand diagrams and polar form. Functions: domains and ranges,one-to-one function, onto functions, composite functions, inverse functions, linear

    and quadratic functions.

Module 2 Differentiation and its applications

Limits and continuity: concept of limit, definition of limits, one-sided limit, left-hand and right-hand limit, theorems, continuity at a point, continuity on intervalsand squeezing theorem. Differentiation: derivatives, rules of differentiation, d/dxnotations, higher order derivatives, rate of change, chain rule, differentiation oftrigonometric functions, logarithmic functions, exponential functions, implicitfunctions, parametric functions, inverse trigonometric functions and hyperbolicfunctions. Application of derivatives: mean value theorem, increasing and

decreasing, local extreme values, end point and absolute extreme values, max-min problems, concavity, point of inflections, vertical and horizontal asymptotes, and curve sketching.

Module 3 Integration and transcendental functions
