Planning for 2020 We have started our planning for next year. It’s really important that we know whether students are leaving and if you know of any families new to the area.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you will be leaving Jingili at the end of this year either by emailing me [email protected] or

by completing the tear off slip in this newsletter.

According to the Larrakia calendar, we are entering Bulnba, the season of the first rains. It

brings the fruiting of new plants. Electrical storms are common. The green tree frog are heard

indicating the rains have arrived.

Dear Parents/Carers Thank-you to Darwin City Council for their generous donation of 20 trees for our school yard to replace

some of those lost when Cyclone Marcus visited us early last year. We are very grateful to Ed Hardy

from Hardy Landscaping who has kindly offered to dig holes for the trees for free. Some of our

students will be helping to plant the trees on Friday 6th December.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Jingili Jiggle next Tuesday evening (3rd December) at the

Casuarina College Gym - 5:45 pm for a 6pm start. Come along and you will be treated to a wonderful

dance production which reflects the evolution of dance. Thanks to parents and staff for their help with

costumes and to our amazing Dance Teacher, Ms Kristy Love for choreographing the whole event and

teaching all of our classes. Our students have put a great deal of effort into learning their dance moves

and are looking forward to showing their families and friends what they are capable of.

Sadly we will be saying goodbye to some of our staff members at the end of the year. Ms Mikah

Delamotte has been at Jingili for 7 years and has decided to transfer to another school much

closer to home. Ms Delamotte has taught students in year 3 and 4 while at Jingili and has contributed

so much to our school over the time she has been here. We wish Ms Delamotte and her children Taj,

Flynn and Zahli all the very best and thank her for all she’s done for our school. We also farewell Ms

Mandy Jockers as she moves interstate with her family to begin a new adventure. We thank Ms

Mandy for all the work she has done in our school office as well as the lovely support she has provided

for our students, staff and parents. We thank-you and wish you and your family all the very best for the

future.

There are lots of dates to remember as the term draws to a close. On Friday 6th December we will celebrate the Graduation of our Year 6 students at a special breakfast at Tracy Village. On Monday 9th December Ms Chellew has very kindly organized Jingili’s Got Talent. Lot’s of our students have used their imagination and talent to develop some interesting acts. Preschool News The Preschool children had a wonderful experience in the Primary School garden last Friday. We were very impressed with the way that the Big Buddies interacted with the younger children and the great pride they took in the garden. Well done! We were able to water plants, visit the chickens and count pineapples. We then enjoyed a nice cool treat from the canteen. Thank you Kim! Our Transition classroom visits over the past fortnight have been a great success - the children (and teachers) have given us some very positive feedback. Thank you to all the parents for getting your children to school on time, and to the Primary School teachers and students for accommodating the Preschool children. And a big thank you to the Big Buddies for looking after the Preschool buddies during recess and for their commitment to the CARES program. This was our last experience with the big buddies for 2019 and the Preschool buddies are looking forward to ongoing support from their big buddies when they start Transition next year.

UPCOMING DATES:

Tuesday 3rd December is the Jingili Jiggle at Casuarina Senior College Gym. Preschool children will be performing in two dances – the first and fifth on the program. Please arrive at 5.45 for a 6.00pm start. Preschool children must be collected from the ‘stage’ area by a parent immediately after the ‘Time warp’, but you are welcome to stay and enjoy the remainder of the concert. Friday 6th December is our Preschool End of Year Party and Concert. The party will start at 9.15 (please remember to send food!) and the concert at 10am. A special visitor is coming at 10.30 (shh, it’s a surprise!). Our Christmas Raffle will also be drawn on this day, so please keep the donations and tickets coming in.

Wednesday 11th December is our pack up day. All work and Learning Journey folders will be sent home.

Thursday 12th December is the last day of Term. There will not be a full day program offered on this day - all children need to be collected at 11.15am As this is the last full Newsletter for the year, we would like to say thank you to all our families for your support during 2019. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The Preschool team

I

Hello Jingili Community, These last few weeks students have been completing their reports. This gives students the opportunity to reflect upon and share their learning with all of us. Jodi and I are always excited to hear what students love to learn about, where they think they can improve and what they’d like to know more about. This feedback is invaluable for our program planning. Upper Primary classes are having a morning tea treat! Making and tasting scones with mango and passionfruit jam with a banana smoothie. Delicious!! Early childhood are finishing off their reports and focussing on frogs. A few weeks ago Alawa, Driver, Karama came to Jingili for a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program Network meeting. This is always a wonderful opportunity for us to share our ideas, learning and challenges. We here at Jingili shared our leaf rubbing and bees wax wraps learning. Everybody went home with a bees wax wrap and a smile. Our beautiful, homemade products make wonderful gifts for loved ones. Get in early and buy some Christmas presents!

On the 2nd and 3rd of November I attended an international youth soccer

cup in Singapore. I represented the Northern Territory in an under 10’s team. I played in 5 games against teams from

around Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and

Phuket. I had fun and ran my heart out. I would like to thank the Jingili School

council for sponsoring me.
