JMP Example 7

Build a model using JMP data table stat_7_data with potential factors: temperature, A/B feed ratio, and

Termination time and the response variable yield. Determine which terms are

significant. Build the model using forward and backward selection

technique.

Page 2: JMP Example 7

As has been shown in previous examples, open JMP and input the data.

As has been shown in previous examples, open JMP and input the data.

Page 3: JMP Example 7

Again, we will be using the “Fit Model” operation on this data.

Page 4: JMP Example 7

As was shown in the previous example, the model specifications are made.

Page 5: JMP Example 7

Choose “Stepwise” in “Personality”

Page 6: JMP Example 7
Page 7: JMP Example 7

To perform forward selection, change both the Enterance and Exit alpha value to .05.

We then hit “Go”.

Page 8: JMP Example 7

This is the reslut of forward selection, Temperature and Termination time enter the model.

We then hit “Make Model”.

Page 9: JMP Example 7

We then run the model.

Page 10: JMP Example 7
Page 11: JMP Example 7

All the factors are significant on the .05 level in the model .

Page 12: JMP Example 7

To perform backward selection, change both the Enterance and Exit alpha value to .05 in the Fit Stepwise window.

Choose “Backward” in “Direction” .

Hit “Enter All” .

Page 13: JMP Example 7

We then hit “Go”.

Page 14: JMP Example 7

The result is the same as in the forward selection. Temperature and Termination time are kept in the model.
