ABOUT US

Saint George, the Patron Saint of the Orthodox Syrian Christians, is the embodiment of piety, courage, gentleness, kind-heartedness and justice. And these are the qualities that St. George's School endeavours to imbibe in its students, in addition to excellence in academics and sports.

The School was founded in 1962 by late Rev. Fr. V.C. George, a Christian Missionary priest belonging to the Indian Orthodox Church. It is a minority institution run by the Christian minority. It is affiliated to the CBSE and has been granted recognition by the Directorate of Education. But it is a school with a difference, where value orientation has been one of the most important focuses. It is a unique mix of the traditional and the modern. It blends old and time-tested values with modern knowledge and state-of-the-art facilities.

MOTTO

The motto of the School is “Spread the Light.” The School expects its students to spread the light of knowledge and wisdom and to remove the darkness of ignorance.

LOCATION & CAMPUS

The School is located on six acres of prime land in the middle of the prestigious Alaknanda colony in South Delhi. The main school building is an imposing piece of architecture that covers an area exceeding 1,00,000 square feet. The foundation stone of the building was laid by Former Vice President of India and the building was inaugurated on May 14, 1993 by The Honourable Ex - President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.

MANAGEMENT

The School is managed by the St. George's Education Society which is a charitable non-profit Society governed by eminent educationists, industrialists and social workers. The management of the school is committed to providing quality education to as many students as possible regardless of religion, caste or social background.

STAFF

The School has a staff of over 130 teachers, who are well qualified and give their very best to the students. Led by the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Sara George, the staff is highly motivated and deeply dedicated. The school also has an award-winning Staff Training Center, where teacher training workshops are organised throughout the year.

PARENTS

The important role parents play in the overall development of the child cannot be ignored. Parents are therefore, encouraged to meet the teachers and the Principal to discuss matters relating to their wards. Regular parent-teacher meetings are held for this purpose. Conferences and seminars involving parents, teachers and students are also regularly arranged.

STUDENTS

The School has over 2,700 students on its rolls. In the words of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Sara George, “Each child is as important to us as if he or she were our own. We are not interested in academic statistics alone. We are interested in ensuring that our every student realizes his or her full potential in the field that he or she has aptitude in and becomes a well-moulded, patriotic citizen that India can be proud of.” Each student receives a high level of individual attention. The management and staff have joined hands to make students highly disciplined, environmentally conscious, God fearing, respectful, considerate and courageous.

FACILITIES

Regardless of cost, the very best facilities have been provided to the teachers and students. The latest teaching aids such as electronic smart board, tablet computers and mobile aids are regularly used for the teaching-learning process at the school. All classrooms have been equipped with their own Smart Boards. St. George's has six fully-equipped science laboratories for imparting practical knowledge in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The aim of having separate labs is to provide ample time and adequate equipment for every student to perform the experiments. No less impressive are the over two hundred computers in five computer laboratories. The computers at St. George's are constantly upgraded with the latest configurations. With the aim of inculcating a lifelong passion for books and knowledge, the School features two full-fledged libraries – one for juniors and another for seniors.
