Aims of Waste Aware North East
•Increase Recycling and Reuse in the North East Region.
•Promote Waste Minimisation to domestic and commercial stakeholders.
•Encourage changing attitudes and behaviour towards waste in the North East.
•Reduce the North East’s use of Landfill.
•Reassure stakeholders that recycling activities do make a significant difference to the environment.
•Ensure regional and national partners involved in waste management work together.
•Reduce the amount of packaging waste produced and increase packaging recycling rates.

• Develop a model for implementing Recycling Schemes in schools and providing educational material

• Use Community Groups as a mouthpiece for sustainable waste messages within their communities
• Support and encourage the development of community led waste projects– Establishment of a Community
