A NOTE FROM THE TEACHERS

Dear parents, This year passed by too fast, and it had been a rewardingexperience to work with you and your child. We thankyou for allowing us to be part of your child's life andacademic achievements. We will continue to learn aboutReduce, Reuse, and Recycle during May, and we willcontinue to get ready for Kindergarten. We encourageyou to continue to work on your child's mathematical, phonological awareness, and print knowledge skillsduring the summer break. Thank you again for yourpatience, understanding, and excellent involvement inyour child's academic experience this year. Keep up withyour great job!

Mrs. Daniella & Mrs. Gloria Buildings are all around us, this month we will learn concepts and skills in science, social studies, literacy, and math aboutbuildings. When we are outside, children often ask questions about our school building, the height, what it’s made of andhow strong it is. Their ongoing interest in our building helped us realize that buildings would make a good study topic. Wecan really use your help in gathering all sorts of pictures of buildings to display around the classroom. Pictures from anysource will help, such as newspapers, magazines, postcards and your family’s photo collection. Thank you for playing animportant role in our learning.

Inspect & CollectWhat you do: Notice when your child picks up and admires small objectshe finds. Begin by talking about his new discovery: I seethat rock has gray and white specks in it. It’d be fun tosave it. I wonder if there are any other interesting rocksaround here. Discuss how the gathered items could be saved as acollection. Your child can create a display of his newtreasures. Try displaying hard items like rocks and shells in a jar ofwater to make the colors brighter. Place fragile items inthe individual sections of an egg carton. Stick feathers in asmall foam block. Talk with your child about other ways his collection can bedisplayed. Admire the collection often and wonder aloud about otheritems that could be added to it.
