Job Description of Mechanical Engineer Expert
1. To lead and manage a team of professional Design Engineers. The technical requirement for thisposition is to be the 'company technical expert' in the discipline, with support from other key
engineers within the Mechanical Engineering department, which includes Fluid power systems,
vessel engineering, heat transfer, materials technology and building services
2. To work as Rotating/static equipment engineer to handle all Rotating/static Equipment in aproject. Able to work independently and with team of engineers, prepare equipment data sheet,specifications, review vendor designs/detail engineering of the equipment, interface control and
timely management of all technical data. Exposure to support site pre-commissioning activities
and cross discipline knowledge will be added advantage.
3. To check/prepare BOM (Bill of Material) as per drawings and calculations4. To develop designs from project specifications and check/prepare TDC (Technical Delivery
Condition) and material specifications in accordance with project specifications and relevant
code. Assesses and discusses customer needs and proposes and executes proper approaches to
problem solving and gives advice to customers in consultation with Global peers. The ability to
prepare and deliver presentations to potential Clients is also required.
5. To allocate, prioritise and check work of a team of Design Engineers and also able to coordinatewith co-workers at all levels, including vendors and clients. Controlling output and man-hour,
maintaining data records and library of lessons learnt and estimating man-hour and providing
proposal support. Project work includes resource allocation, lead engineering support of the
schedule, determining workflow, work-hour spread and forward loading and progress
measurement
6. To prepare and check material data sheets and material take off reports.7. To prepare, check and evaluate design and material specifications, SDRL, RFQs and TBE Criteria
for Quotation and tender.
8. To review and approve key vendor prints, documents and drawings9. To review detail shop drawings, plate cutting layout and nesting program according to the
construction drawings.
10.To document, record and report on meetings, progress of jobs and construction completionsfrom design & validation reports from Project Engineers. He/she shall demonstrate the ability to
write report, debate technical issues and provide resolutions for path forward.
11.To incorporate feedback from projects and customers for design clarification and modificationsduring the design development and construction project phases.
12.For Lead/Senior Rotating/ Static Engineer position, he/she is able to design, perform, verify,provide guidance to young Engineers and demonstrate good quality product.
13.Will be part of team in maximizing productivity, development, spreading of team's bestpractices and adherence to the quality systems. Will develop expertise and leverage on best
practices to ensure technically sound, cost effective engineering advice, and add value to all
clients.
14.Define and advise the Development and Training needs for the discipline, support graduate andyoung engineer development. In collaboration with the Project Lead Engineers and Project
Engineering Managers forecast manpower requirements monthly, review productivity, report
on areas of concern on each project and be totally involved with the earned value process.
