RUGBY WORLD CUP FINALS
The Great Escape is Europe's leading festival for new music with over 35 venues, 400 artists, 700 performances taking place over 3 days with an industry conference and over 3,000 delegates.
I first started working with the Great Escape in 2009 as a venue assistant. Now as part of the senior production team my role is to manage production for the Alternative Escape and all outdoor events across Brighton working in a number of unique locations with event partners. This role includes technical production, logistics and liaising with the local authority.
The Barclays ATP World Tour Final is the men’s tennis season finale for the top eight singles and double teams in the world held at the O2 Arena. I started at the 2014 ATP World Tour Finals as the assistant stage manager. In 2015 I returned as the assistant production manager including 2 months pre-production.
My role was to support the production manager with logistics, health & safety, contractor management & procurement, scheduling and accreditation. Working closely with the PM we designed new technical elements introduced to the 2015 show. During the event we manage player entrances onto court.

LONDON ROAD PORTAS PILOT
The London Road Portas Pilot is a high street regeneration
project in Brighton which aimed to rejuvenate a struggling
area of the city which suffers from high levels of crime,
poor reputation and vacant properties. As project manager I
oversaw all elements within the scheme which include
budget management (£120,000+), crime reduction
initiatives, branding and marketing (including all social
media and online development), managing staff, public art
works, installations and managing grant structures. The
project involved working with and creating multiple
partnerships with independent and national businesses, the
Police, Brighton & Hove City Council, Department for
Communities and Local Government and community and
business groups.
The project has been so successful we were championed as a
national success story by minister for communities Penny
Mordaunt MP at the DCLG. Following the success of this
role I went on to consult on other regeneration schemes,
strategy and EU funded projects in the city.

TESTIMONY JOE NICHOLS
“As the manager for the both locally and nationally high profile
Portas Town Project in Brighton, Joe proved that he has the
acumen, probity and tenacity to deliver a project without hitch.
From the creation of a partnership from scratch, through the
inherent issues of liaising between the public and private sectors to
delivering outcomes, Joe embodied the role with ease. His ability to
work with minimal supervision, while showing great initiative was
also a huge asset.”
GAVIN STEWART
Chief Executive
Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership
“Joe’s flexibility made it easy for him to quickly pick up tasks and run
with them. His professional attitude and attention to detail were
invaluable credits and I look forward to having the opportunity to
work with him in the future.”
