I. Our worship revealed in our
labor
(Joh 12:2) There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
(Luk 10:38-42) Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain
village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my
sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is
needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from
her.
(Rom 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service.
(Php 2:25) Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that
ministered to my wants.
II. Our worship revealed in or love
for the word
(Joh 12:2) There they made him a supper; and Martha served:
but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
(Psa 119:162) I rejoice at thy word, as one that
findeth great spoil.
(Psa 119:111) Thy testimonies have I taken
as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of
my heart.
(Psa 119:14) I have rejoiced in the way of
thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
III. Our worship revealed in our
liberality
(Joh 12:3) Then took Mary a pound of ointment of
spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and
wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the
odour of the ointment.
(2Co 8:1-3) Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of
their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their
power they were willing of themselves;
(2Co 8:1-3) Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of
their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their
power they were willing of themselves;
IV. Our worship revealed in our
location
(Joh 12:3) Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the
house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
(Rev 4:10-11) The four and twenty elders fall down before
him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast
their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art
worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:
for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
V. Our worship revealed in others
loss
(Joh 12:4-6) Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared
for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what
was put therein.
(2Sa 6:14-16) And David danced before the LORD with all his
might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all
the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting,
and with the sound of the trumpet. And as the ark of the
LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked
through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him
in her heart.
VI. Our worship revealed in the list of
importance
(Joh 12:7-8) Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept
this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye
have not always.
(Luk 10:38-42) Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain
village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much
serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left
me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou
art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and
Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from
her.
