Help and Comfort for the Troubled

John 14

• No Troubles … You Have a HOME! vv.1-4

• I Am the Way … vv.5-14

THOMAS … Show us the Way

PHILIP .. Show us the Father

• The Comforter

Conclusion: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” v.27 Next Week: John 15

• Praise God for the comfort we receive, knowing that Jesus provides the way to Heaven, and that he gives us the Spirit to guide and comfort us while we wait.

• Pray for all those who are sick or unwell among us at the moment. Pray for Wal Brown as he recovers from surgery to remove lesions on his head and ear. Give thanks that all went well. Pray that Wal would have a good recovery, and pray especially that the skin graft on Wal’s ear will take without complications.

• Please pray for our Session and Committee of Management: Pray for Steve, Phil, Dave, Doug, Brad, and Al, as they provide spiritual care and oversight in the Church. Pray for them as they plan and seek to set the future vision for the Church, and as they work to build up our church and train us for works of service to God. Pray for Steve, Phil, Dave, Belinda, Phillipa, Frances, Ken and John as they manage the financial affairs of the Church and ensure we have resources for Gospel ministry.

• Praise God for Ian Traise’s opportunity to be in the Philippines for 10 days. Pray for the staff at Safe Haven as they seek to establish a presence in the local slum, as they treat many sick children, and as they seek greater support from the local church. Pray that the Gospel would shine through in the love of the Safe Haven Staff.

• The McDonald’s latest Prayer Letter is on the back table. Give thanks that Gae has a Nursing job 3 days per month, which will allow her to maintain her registration. Pray for David and Gae to be bold in sharing the gospel and to develop relationships quickly as they start work in a new area, the Darling Patrol, based in Narrabri.

• The latest Bible League Prayer Calendar is on the back table. Pray for new believers doing Bible-based Literacy classes in Nepal. Pray that these classes will bring hope as they learn English and grow in their faith with each study lesson. Pray that the teachers will have wisdom to answer questions.

• The February Callow Prayer Letter is on the back table. Pray for Jeff and Belinda as they look after a small church in Nakhon City while the missionaries there are on home assignment in South Africa. Pray too for the Pak Phanang church, for Somjai and Tip who are the sole leaders now that Deht has left to take a job in Phuket.

WELCOME, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE VISITING TODAY. We hope you’ll be encouraged as we hear from the Bible and praise God together today. Crèche (for preschoolers) and Kids Church (for Primary Aged kids) will begin part way through the service (please sign your children in and out). Please stay for morning tea and a chat after the service, and feel free to fill in a Welcome Card at the back table to help us serve you better.

SERMON SERIES in Term 1 “That You May BELIEVE”This term we’re studying a series in the second half of the Gospel of John, chapters 10-21, as a whole Church, in Sermons, Growth Groups, Kids Church and Youth Group.

A Message from David and Emily Cobb: Dear Crossroads, We wanted to deeply thank you for the love, friendship and support you have given us over our time at Crossroads Presbyterian Church. As a family, we have decided to attend Alstonville Baptist Church. We look forward to continuing to serve God on the Plateau, even though it will be in a different part of the Body of Christ. Please know we will continue to pray that you will shine brightly for Jesus, glorifying him with all that you are and all that you do as you reach the lost and spur one another on. Warmest love in Christ, David, Emily, Imogen, Gideon and Esther Cobb.
