The Flea
John Donne was the meta physical poet. He was the
pioneer of meta physical poetry. The Flea is a
biographical image used by John Donne.
It is a very small insects, which sucks our blood.
It can fly.
This is a love poem.
Here, the flea sucks blood of both the lovers.
The lover request his lover to not to kill the flea.
The flea means the lover and his beloved.
Both have already became one in the stomach of
the
flea.
The is described as a marriage bed and marriage
Temple.
The lover wants his beloved to learn a lesson from
that flea.
Death, Be not Proud
‘Death, Be not proud’ is one of holy sonnets
written by John Donne.
This sonnet expresses the ultimate reality called death.
The poet addresses to death saying that there is no
Need for death to be proud.
Here, death means rest to bones.
Death itself is a slave of fate, chance and kings.
There are three places where death
lives forever.
Those places are : War, Poison And Sickness.
Donne concludes his sonnet saying that death need
not become proud.
