418Mary

We need not give up the pleasures and luxuries of this life. God does not call us to be ascetics, but He does call us to be mindful of proportion in our lives. The question is, “If I have this for myself, then what should I do for God?” Thank you for what you are giving to God.

Discovering Christ Prefacing Christ

It’s Advent time, its lyrical We sing in celebration

Hosannas hail the miracle: The child of expectation.

Fulfilling prophecies of old. Three Kings led forward from afar

With frankincense and myrrh and gold By the glorifying guiding star,

Behold! Within that manger lies God’s Son, the Prince of Paradise.

by Ralph Capasso

HELP THOSE IN NEED WITH TAX PREPARATION

You can help hard-working families in your community by volunteering to prepare tax returns. We are a Dutchess County coalition comprised of several local organizations. Our mission is Creating Assets Savings and Hope, CASH-Coalition. Our goal is to assure working and low-income families receive free, reliable tax preparation and obtain federal and state earned income tax credits. Free training is provided. It is a great way to learn a new skill and receive IRS certification. Increase your own personal talents while helping your local community. Training to be held in December. Tax sites are open the end of January to April and in or near your town. Choose from flexible hours including week days, weekends, or evenings. Interested in volunteering or want more information? Call Julie West at 451-4217.

Divine Mercy Devotions The Divine Mercy Devotions Group meets every Thursday in the Church at 3PM. All are welcome.

Socks for the Needy Community building at its best! Clove Creek Dinner Theater is having a fundraising event at their January and February performances of Barefoot in the Park, written by Neil Simon. They are requesting that all ticket holders donate a new (not used) pair of socks to be donated to our Church and distributed to those in need. This is a wonderful way to have a great evening and support our local dinner theater.

Also, please “Save the Date” for St. Mary’s annual event at Clove Creek on Friday, March 13 – our fabulous Irish Night with music and sing-a-longs. Stay tuned for more exciting details as we get closer!

Every Thursday – 7AM to 7PM Devotion

We gaze out on the world today And see so much askew.

Vice and venom pave the way. Belief itself has gone astray.

We sadly wonder “What to do?” Each Thursday is, I do suggest,

Within our Church’s walls Our Savior who will ease distress.

(Listen! For He calls.) So, make an effort, stay awhile,

Adoration – it’s in style. ~ Ralph Capasso
