l. There are four notes outside of the CmajT chord which you can add to CmajT to achieve harmonic variery. The 6'hwhich is an A, the 9'h which is a D, and two notes outside of the C maior scale, the $5 which is Gil and the b5 whichis Gb.

2. Using these four notes in conjunction with the C major scale allows us to use five major triads as substitutions forCmaj7.
