Johnathan Perkins: How to Avoid Injuries While Running
At present, Johnathan Perkins is serving as a legal intern for the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, office of Robinson &
Geraldo Attorneys at Law. An avid runner in his spare time, he shares a few tips on how to avoid getting hurt while running.
Wear the proper gear – The most important piece of equipment a runner can have is a good pair of running shoes. The
right running shoes can help to absorb and minimize the impact that running can
have on your body.
Listen to your body – Most experts advise against pushing through when you feel an injury coming on while running. It is better
to rest and let the injury heal. Running while injured can exacerbate the situation and cause you to sit out longer than if you had let the injury heal properly in the first
place.
Start slowly – When beginning a running regimen, it is important to build up your
training gradually. This helps the body to recover and regain the strength it needs to
get started again.
