Dear Olympic View Families,
Sixth grade end of year activities have begun! This past Thursday we recognized sixth grade students at the Masonic Awards Assembly. Congratulations to Mariana Barr, Joseph Doyle, Carylle Espinosa, Daniel Garcia-Frausto, Ylsabella Sta. Agueda, and Eric Yang who were recognized with the prestigious Masonic Award by Mr. John Carter and Mr. Jeff Carter representing the Chula Vista Masonic Lodge # 626. Mrs. Emma Sanchez, Executive Director of Language Acquisition at the School District was also present for the ceremony. The Masonic Award recognizes outstanding citizenship, including leadership with peer groups, participation in school activities, use of courtesy and proper manners, excellent behavior, and enthusiasm for school activities. Congratulations to our six outstanding recipients!
The OPTC Bootcamp Fun Run was delightful! Students had a great time running, jogging, and walking the obstacle course. Thank you to all the volunteers for coming out to help and cheer the students on. Especial thanks to Joseph Roley-Arzaga who designed and set-up the obstacle course and Maria Auditor and Cristina Marquez for blowing up all the balloons and creating an outstanding balloon arch for the beginning of the obstacle course. Please remember to collect your pledges and turn them in.
Thanks to all students and staff for wearing military logo t-shirts last Friday to show support for our military families. Yesterday, we had Game Day for students of military families and a friend during recess in the auditorium. Thank you, Mrs. Dameron, Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) for hosting the games. The students had an enjoyable time!
Friday, April 20th, is Purple Up for Military Kids Day! People around the nation will “Purple Up! For Military Kids” as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifice. Purple symbolizes all branches of the military. Wearing purple on April 20th will show Olympic View’s support for our military persons and their families. We would like to invite you to come join us for a brief 15-minute ceremony on Friday on the blacktop at 8:15 a.m. If you are military and can join us in your uniform on Friday, please call our office at 656-2030 and give us your name so we can reserve a seat for you to be recognized. We hope you can join us.
The sixth grade panoramic picture and individual promotion pictures will be taken on Wednesday, April 18th. Sixth graders, please bring a nice top for the promotion picture and wear a red spirit shirt or top for the panoramic picture.
Please support our skillful Eagles soccer team. Thursday, April 19th, our soccer team will play Juarez-Lincoln. It is an away game and starts at 4:00 p.m. at Juarez Lincoln. Go Eagles!

Do you think Olympic View Is the Best school?
BizTown was very fun this year! It was my third and final
year going to BizTown. Working at NBC 7 News was really fun
because I was able to cue the camera operator and tell him
when to turn on the cameras. I also got to go to every
business to schedule interviews on the news with them. The
different things that every business was selling was very
unique. I enjoyed BizTown on all three of the years I went
but this one was definitely my favorite. --Devyn Senaha
Biztown was so much fun. I really didn't expect it to be really
big. You could do so much there. But the only thing that I
wish was longer was our breaks. I also think we should have a
longer time to do work. But I really liked my job it was fun
printing out things although it was tough figuring out how to
do things on the computer. When I was there I thought it
was going to be hard just for two people in one company but
then I noticed that it's really not that hard. But this
experience couldn't be any better. --Lilyana Auditor
BizTown was a fun experience and I am willing to go again.
The day was fun but hard. Me being a CEO/CFO I was busy
all the time, even on break! The deposits and checks were
coming while I was on break. Being in the radio station was a
fun thing to do. Even doing payroll, I got to give everyone
their check when they went on break. The good thing was
that it helped me learn what my parents do in the workforce.
I think that BizTown is pleasant experience for anyone that
goes. --Michael Navarro
Something that I really enjoyed during our trip to JA
Biztown was that I got to be an attorney for a company
named Procopio which is very fun because that's my dream
job to be a lawyer. I liked the cases and how I got to look for
clues. I also had to get scientific evidence to prove my case.
The lawsuit was really interesting and it felt like if it was
really my job! I was worried it was going to be boring but it
turns out it was really exciting. Thanks for teaching us Mrs.
Van Nostrand and Ms.Wiseman. --Camila Hernandez
My day a JA biztown was amazing because actually working
just for a little bit made me realize that my parents work so
hard just so that we can have a house to live in and food to
eat and water to drink. I am grateful that I got the chance
to actually know what it is like to work. But one of my favorite
parts of BizTown was when all of the other people got their
first break and the store was just filled with people and we
got through all of them. --Nathan Madriaga
Johnathan Ramos Let me tell you about Olympic View School. I think
Olympic View School is the best school. The first reason
is they have great food and fresh fruit. The next reason
is they have a big playground. The last reason is they
have a lot of classrooms. You should go to Olympic View.
