During the past quarter-century, the HIA-LI has grown to represent tens of thousands of business professionals. Our community outreach has fed the hungry, supplied blood for emergencies, provided scholarships for Long Island college students and strengthened businesses throughout the region.

We are continuing to spearhead initiatives to address problems affecting the Hauppauge Industrial Park – infrastructure issues such as sewer capacity, roads and transportation. And, while the Park is a primary concern, it is only one of our objectives. Since our membership encompasses Long Island and beyond our overall objective is to enhance the economic climate and overall quality of life of the Long Island business region for the benefit of our members.

HIA-LI has continued to conduct extensive focus groups with members and prospects and have identified several continued and new key initiatives that will help business survive and thrive now and in the future (The initiatives are enclosed for your reference).

Our Story

In 1978, a blackout affecting the Hauppauge Industrial Park left tenants without power for three days. Since there was no one to speak on behalf of the tenants in this time of crisis, The Hauppauge Industrial Association was formed. In the three decades since, HIA-LI has become the recognized voice for business on Long Island and a powerful force and economic engine for regional development.

Today our member companies represent tens of thousands of business professionals. We’re headquartered in and support the Hauppauge Industrial Park, one of the largest industrial parks in the United States. We provide a forum for business leaders to network, problem solve and obtain advice on critical issues facing their businesses. Our programs and events promote strategic partnerships, targeted networking, information sharing and business advocacy.

HIA-LI is supporting the infrastructure of one of the largest industrial parks in the Northeast with over 55,000 employees to promote the continued growth of business in the Park. Our infrastructure projects in the park aredesignedtoimproveefficiencyandhelpprepareyour company for growth! Projects include:

Sewerage ProjectAllow for expansion of facilities, greater density usage, future growth and environmental benefits in the existing and proposed sewerage service area. It is designed to eliminate current problems with the aging infrastructure of two sewage treatment plants which comprise the existing Sewer District.

Overlay DistrictA new zoning overlay district will allow taller buildings, outdoor storage and additional parking in the Hauppauge Industrial Park which gives companies in the Park the opportunity for more growth.

Transportation StudyHIA-LI received a $650,000 grant to draft a plan for improving the Hauppauge Industrial Park’s road infrastructure, providing access and egression from the park. This will save you, your employees and your client’s time!

Ambulance Response TimeWe are working closely with local departments to improve ambulance response time in the park.
