Football PhilosophyThe St George area has made a major contribution to Australian football over the years having produced many of the country’s leading players.

The SGFA Development Program philosophy is to identify the most talented players and coaches from within our own region and offer them an environment of football excellence.

This includes the provision of highly professional coaching, in a Club/Organisation that has ambition, vision, and desire to be the best. We want to continue to promote our youth into senior football and to produce technically gifted players who will learn to play entertaining, skilful, attractive and dynamic football.

SGFA aims to deliver cutting edge programs and oversee an advanced talent identification network.

Representative PathwaysFrom 2017, the SGFA Representative pathway will be via the newly created Club, St George City FA.

This is as a result of the SGFA’s senior program winning the 2016 State League Men’s Club Championship in its debut season which subsequently resulted in promotion to the Football NSW National Premier League 3 competition for 2017. Promotion will also see St George City FA field teams in the Football NSW Youth 2 Boys competitions (Under 13-16 years)

This representative pathway now includes:

- Boys and Girls Skills Acquisition Program (SAP)

- Regional League

- Football NSW NPL 2 Youth (U13-16)

- Senior teams (U18, 20 & First Grade) that participate in the FNSW NPL 3

- Girls and Boys Academy - 1st Eleven

- Centre of Excellence (COE Program)

- Community Coaching courses

- SGFA School Holiday Clinics

SGFA’s Development Program is led by former Socceroo and SBS football analyst, Aytek Genc, who manages all SGFA representative teams together with delivering a range of development programs.

A Game to be Proud of… We believe our game is about respect, teamwork and keeping healthy and active. It’s about providing an opportunity to every member of our region to participate in the ‘world game’ as a player, coach, referee or volunteer. Our game thrives from members of the community and the contribution made by our volunteers who commit so much of their time and passion to the sport.

Our RefereesOur Referees are a key part of our game and SGFA works closely with the St George Football Refereess Association (SGFRA) to recruit, develop and retain referees. There are approximately 180 referees that officiate across SGFA Competitions starting from the age of 13. It’s a great way for members of our football community to take leadership positions in football and there are many opportunities for our officials to follow a pathway within SGFA, FNSW, FFA (Football Federation Australia) and FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

Our Volunteers – The Foundation of Football There are so many members of our community that contribute to football. Without them our game would not be the success it is today. These include:

- Football Clubs and their Committee’s

- Coaches and Managers of the many teams across our competitions

- SGFA Volunteers - the SGFA Board and Board Sub-Committee’s

- Referees Football Association and their Committee’s
