In addition to mole tasting, Festival visitors can purchase a

wide array of prepared foods, including ice cream from The

Penny Ice Creamery, churros, fish tacos, and Mexican food

— including mole plates — from El Chipotle, Taqueria Lidia

and Sazon Mexicano. There also will be soda, beer from

Discretion Brewing and chavelas to drink.

Mariachi Gilroy, Mariachi Alma de Mexico, Mariachi Juvenil

Alma de Mexico and Trio del Sol will play music. Estrellas de

Esperanza, a baile folklorico group from Watsonville, and

Centeotl Grupo de Danza y Baile both will perform. There

also will be kids crafts, piñatas every hour, a raffle, art for

sale and more.

Take the trolley to the Festival. Free trolley rides will be

offered from the Locust Street and River Street parking

garages. Free bike valet is available at the Festival also.

Admission is free. Mole tasting kits are $10. Learn more on

Thank you, volunteers! Hundreds of Santa Cruz District State Parks volunteers werefeted at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, held atHenry Cowell Redwoods State Park on Saturday, Aug. 29.

The late afternoon picnic was sponsored by Friends of SantaCruz State Parks, Mountain Parks Foundation andCoastside State Parks Association. We so appreciate thehard work of all State Parks volunteers this year.

Proceeds from this year's Festival will be dedicated toneeded repairs of the Mission Adobe, Santa Cruz County'soldest building.

Connect with tradition at Ohlone Day.Celebrate Ohlone people of the past with those of thepresent at the annual Ohlone Day at Henry CowellRedwoods State Park 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

Watch traditional Ohlone dancers and see demonstrations ofOhlone basketry, songs, stories, tools musical instruments,language and history at this free, annual event.
