The Joint Programming Initiative Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans (JPI Oceans) is a coordinating and integrating platform, open to all EU Member States and Associated Countries.

While bringing together the interested Member States and Associated Countries JPI Oceans

aims to add value by:

• avoiding fragmentation and unnecessary duplication

• planning common and flexible initiatives

• facilitating cooperation and foresight

• establishing efficient mechanisms for interaction and knowledge transfer between the sci-

entific community, industry & services, and policy makers at high level in order to solve the

grand challenges more effectively.

The first JPI Oceans Conference

The first JPI Oceans conference is open to the marine and maritime science community, policy

makers, NGOs and industry representatives and network organisations.

The conference will present:

• The JPI Oceans Vision and Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda - Priorities for marine

and maritime research in Europe and perspectives for future joint activities.

• The JPI Oceans joint actions including the actions on ecological aspects of deep sea mining

and micro-plastics, the multi-use of infrastructure for monitoring in the North Sea and inter-

calibration for the EU Water Framework Directive.

• The outcomes of CSA Oceans, the EU FP7 Support Action aimed to facilitate the implemen-

tation of JPI Oceans in its startup phase.
