Joining Hands with GodDr. Jeff Roberts, Senior Pastor [email protected] • Twitter: @Jeff__Roberts
I am excited about all of our discipleship class offerings this fall. I hope you have already taken a look at all of the opportunities, which are being provided for you to continue to grow in your faith and in fellowship at Trinity. One change that you will notice for this coming fall is an adjustment of our approach on Wednesday evenings for our adults. We are offering several options for you to attend as part of our Wednesday programing. Instead of a larger Bible Study setting in the Chapel, we are going to have four options for adults. Rev. Hal Melton will continue to lead a small group Companions Along the Way. In addition, Jody and Paige Bagwell will facilitate a gathering each Wednesday for parents and others around the topics that families are facing in today’s culture. This will be a time to find support from one another and to pray for each other each Wednesday night. Dr. Tyler Townsend will lead our weekly mid-week Bible study. Finally, I will be leading an introduction to Spiritual Formation entitled Companions in Christ. All of these classes will be held in smaller classrooms and the intent is to create a smaller and less formal setting for learning on Wednesday nights. All of the classes have the intent of being more interactive around class participation. It will be an opportunity to grow together. All of our classes begin at 6:15 p.m. following our Wednesday Night Supper. continued

Following Jesus... continued
If you would like to join me for my Wednesday night small group, I need you to sign-up, so we can provide you a book and materials. The Companions in Christ class is going to be capped at 20 people, so we can have the best experience. If you would like to be a part of this study with me on Wednesday please do not hesitate but sign-up in the Narthex, or at the Block Party or by calling the office.
I am looking forward to our time on Wednesdays as we continue to grow and mature in our faith. I hope you will be part of one of these mid-week studies.

Support Gatherings forAdult Children of
Aging ParentsBegins Thurs., Sept. 10 • 6:30pm • Parlor
Whether your parent(s) is living with you, or s/he is several states away, the biblical commitment to honor our parents weighs heavily on our hearts when quality of life fades. This gathering meets every other month in the relaxed atmosphere of our Church Parlor. Each has the opportunity to share with the group about the joys, concerns and frustrations in relating to his/her parent(s). You are not going through this alone, and there is much to learn from each others experience. You can join up at any time. Rev. Melton and his wife Roberta facilitate the sharing. No need to sign up – just email Hal and let him know you will be there! ([email protected])
Marriage Enrichment Groups
(Beginner & Ongoing)
Begin Friday, September 11 Sign-up on the Narthex Board Now!
A Marriage Enrichment Group (MEG) is an ongoing small group that provides a safe place for married or engaged couples to explore their relationship among supportive peers. Each MEG is as unique as the couples in them. All couples are there for the same purpose – to strengthen and grow their relationship.
The MEG goal is A Commitment to Growth, An Effective Communication System, The Creative Use of Conflict, and Frequent Expressions of Affection and Affirmation.
MEGs meet once a month with up to 8 couples and a Leader Couple. Each month the couples will address a different topic. The goal is to focus on their relationship. The majority of the time is spent with couples dialoguing about the topic of the week as it concerns their relationship. Operation
Christmas Child Will you be ready?
Be sure to pick-up a few extras of all those great back to school bargains available now. They will come in handy when you fill your OCC box in November.
Consider signing-up to help with the Packing Party that TBC will be hosting on November 13th & 14th in the FH. We need lots of helpers to pack 2,000 shoeboxes, so if you have a Sunday School class, civic or school group that wants to serve, email me and tell me what time slot you would like to fill.
The time slots are 8:30am to 1:00pm and 12:30 to 5:00pm on either Friday or Saturday, Nov 13 & 14. We could also use some help on Thursday, November 12th to pick-up the supplies and set-up in the Fellowship Hall.
Get ready to spread God’s love to the world’s children! - Lenita Gruttadauria (TBC’s OCC Lead Team Coordinator) [email protected].
Jobs For LifeBegins Sunday, September 13
TBC has partnered with Jobs for Life (JfL) for nine years in an effort to help those who are underemployed and unemployed in our church and community to learn about God’s plan for work, discover road blocks in their lives to getting a job, and gain the skills and confidence to do an effective job search. This is done through an excellent curriculum provided by JfL. The Lead Team is ready to meet new students this fall. The class will meet Sundays from 5:00-7:00pm and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm in A-214.
If you or someone you know is interested in being a student in this class, please contact the church office ([email protected] or 919-787-3740) to receive an application. Applications are due into the office by Sunday, August 30th.

Thank you for offering this beautiful solo with us in worship.
We have some changes in the forthcoming year of Preschool and Children’s Choirs this year at Trinity. We’re pleased to have the following directors in place…

Sanctuary Choir Retreat
August 28-29 • TBC
The Sanctuary Choir begins each season with a time of fellowship and rehearsal. Our retreat is an important time to come together and get focused on the months of rehearsals and preparation for the Christmas Cantata. Before you know it, we will be in December when we present it on December 13 in both morning services. I’d like to make a personal invitation to those who have been contemplating joining the choir at some point but just haven’t made the commitment. This is the perfect time to say, “yes,” and become involved in a great musical family.

Please be on your best behavior to welcome our Kindergartners to the corporate worship experience this Sunday. They will be watching us to see how we worship and pay reverence to our God. Let’s show them how patient we are with their whispers and their wiggles. Let’s show them how we participate by singing, giving our offering and praying
together. Give thanks as you see a young child. Encourage them, guide them if they need it and always model the behavior you desire for them.
“I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’”
