Joint Workshop on Smart Specialisation Strategies Draft AGENDA Hosted by Upper Austria and coorganized by the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research, OECD and IPTS 28 March 2012 Linz, Austria Venue: This joint workshop brings together policy makers, academia and experts from different countries and regions in the context of smart specialization strategies (S3) for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. As a joint event it will combine policy expertise from the ongoing OECD project on Designing Smart Specialisation Strategies for Innovation Driven Growth and the European Commission’s S3 Platform implemented by IPTS. The workshop will discuss the policy concept of smart specialization and its practical implications. It will introduce tools and indicators that will help to revisit regional strategies and to start processes for designing, measuring and implementing national or regional research and innovation strategies for smart specialization (RIS3). The exchange between policy makers, experts, scientific institutions and the experience from existing regional specialization cases will maximize the policy learning for a successful implementation process. SUCEAVA, ROMANIATOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE and INTEGRATED ENERGY SYSTEM

This is the First Call for Papers for the 2012 International Word Energy System Conference (WESC), tobe held on June 28-30, 2012 in Romania, hosted by the University “Stefan cel Mare” of Suceava.“Stefan cel Mare” University is a reputable institution situated in a beautiful region rich in uniquehistorical landmarks. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the “Stefan celMare” University is well known for its excellence and collaboration with other international institutions.

Previous WES conferences were held in Targoviste, Romania (2010), Iasi Romania (2008), Torino, Italy(2006), Oradea, Romania (2004), Tokyo, Japan (2002), Irkusk, Russia (2000), and Toronto, Canada (1996and 1998). Past conferences attracted practitioners in the power industry and members from the academiafrom many countries and continents.

The aim of the 2012 International World Energy System Conference is to support an integrated energysystem through competitive, reliable, sustainable and secure energy solutions.

CONFERENCE FEES and REGISTRATION

The registration fees for participants includes: Workshop Attendance, Conference Proceedings, Coffee breaks,Welcome Reception, a Traditional Conference Dinner. The registration fees are 100 € for participants registeredbefore May 1, 2012, 150 € after May 1, 2012 and 25 € for students. For Suceava county tour extra fee 100 €. Forinclusion of an accepted paper in the Conference Proceedings, at least one author of the paper must register at theConference.
