Jonathan Law High School A Caring Community
October, 2013 Volume 15, Number 2
From the Principal
Jonathan Law High School is a community that exists to maximize the intellectual, the social, and the emotional growth of each student in a safe, stable, supportive environment.
Dear Students and Families, Welcome to fall! We have had an amazing start to our school year at Jonathan Law. I am so pleased to inform everyone that our students and staff have created a welcoming atmosphere for our new students and everyone is focused on their academics and activities. Everyone has done a great job adjusting to our new schedule which allows for more classes and longer periods of time learning. As I visit classes, I continue to be amazed at the level of discussion and learning that is going on – it’s a testament to our dedicated staff and our awesome students! We have welcomed several new faculty and staff! They have jumped right in and embraced the Jonathan Law tradition of support every student to strive towards excellence. Our recent Open House for current parents was a wonderful night to meet all the teachers and hear about the expectations for student learning. As you know, the best chance for a student’s success occurs when home and school work together to create a cohesive support system. Please remember that our teachers are available to answer any questions about their classes – whether by e-mail, phone or meetings. As well, our Parent Portal through Power School will allow you to continually monitor your child’s grades and assignments. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. I appreciate your continued support of Jonathan Law High School and I thank you for the honor of being your principal.
Sincerely,
Fran Thompson

Freshman Class Dues Slip Each year students are responsible for paying dues. Dues aid in the cost of graduation and activities students are involved in during their senior year. Below are the amounts owed each year for dues. Freshmen are responsible for paying $10.00 by the end of this school year. If you would like to, you may pay dues for all four years at one time. Please make checks payable to: Jonathan Law High School or JLHS In the memo line: Student’s name and Class Checks are preferable over cash since checks are easier to track if there is a discrepancy. However, returned checks are subject to a $10 fee and will not be covered by the school. Students will receive a receipt and a dues card through their advisory teacher once the payment has been processed by Mrs. Lindsay. If you wish to send your payment to the school, please send it to the following: Jonathan Law HS Attn: Christy Ann Lindsay (Freshman Class Advisor) 20 Lansdale Ave Milford, CT 06460 Please return the bottom portion of this letter with the payment in an envelope. Important Senior Portrait Information Attention Seniors:
The deadline for submission of Senior Portraits for printing in the Yearbook is fast-approaching; this date
Friday, October 25th. This means that if you have yet to schedule an appointment, you should do so
very soon.
Our official (and recommended) photographer is Photography by Roman, and he has recently sent home
another mailing with information about portrait sittings. If you chose Roman, he will be submitting your
chosen photo directly to me for the yearbook. So, once you have taken your photo with him, you do not
need to worry about getting the photo to me. However, if you use another photographer, it is your
responsibility to submit your photo for the yearbook to me by the October deadline. These photos
can be submitted on CD or in print, but the print must be professional and at least 4x6 in size.
If you cannot make it to Roman’s studio, he will be offering sittings at Jonathan Law on Monday,
October 7th and Tuesday, October 15th. Sign up sheets will be in the main office by the end of
September For these sessions, the choices are limited to the following:
Formal Senior Portraits: 5-6 formal poses on traditional yearbook background. All poses are
head and shoulders in length specifically for the yearbook. 1 Outfit. $20.00 sitting fee.
Yearbook Only: 1 formal pose taken for the yearbook. No charge.
If you wish to have other portraits taken, such as casual photos with outfit changes, you must make an
appointment at the studio.
If you wish to have your Senior photo in the 2013-2014 yearbook, it is imperative you make the
necessary appointments and ensure your photo is submitted by the October deadline. No late
submissions can be accepted. Please note: the photo taken on the Underclassmen portrait days
(October 25th and 28th) CANNOT be used for Seniors in the yearbook. It is for identification purposes
only.
