DESCRIPTION

After completing the initial year, I4MS has hosted its first public international event on 18th June in Berlin, in cooperation with the launch of the German manufacturing programme, “Autonomik für Industrie 4.0". I4MS has brought together more than 150 professionals from industry and innovation, who have attended to several presentations about what has been achieved by I4MS and further funding opportunities for SMEs and middle size corporates (mid-caps) under the Initiative. The event signified the importance of SMEs in Europe’s manufacturing industry and their role in the reindustrialisation process for Europe. At a glance: SMEs are providers of around 45% of manufacturing added value and roughly 59% of employment in the manufacturing sector.

2.1. MONOCROM diode laser characteristics

Robustness No soldering of laser bars, No

microchannels. Regular industrial-grade water

can be used

 Low maintenance No obstruction of

cooling channels.

High brightness Low „smile“ (below 0.5

2. MONOCROM DIODE LASERS

I4MS: FOSTERING DIGITAL INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION IN EUROPE

High brightness Low „smile“ (below 0.5

microns) enchances brightness of the laser

beam.

 Flexibility and Integrability Mechanical,

optical and electrical design combined with

instant fabrication capabilities.

Simplicity and low-cost On a large

production scale, our mounting technology

ensures probably the most cost-effective

fabrication process.

3. LASHARE PROJECT

3.1. Overview

LASHARE will allow this highly innovative

equipment to be demonstrated as enabler

of the laser assisted roll-forming process.

This new process will allow zero spring-back

I4MS: FOSTERING DIGITAL INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION IN EUROPE

This new process will allow zero spring-back

fabrication of complex profiles in a standard

roll-forming machine, with minimal

adaptation, thanks to the mechanism of

local yielding, which forces the material to

concentrate the plastic deformation only

under the area being hit by the laser

radiation.9
