This is a car advertisement from Citroen. This advertisement was founded in the Star

newspaper on Wednesday, 17 December 2014. The Christmas is coming soon. Due to the

special day, a lot of companies are figuring out different method to get attractions from

the consumers. In the advertisement, a prominent title: “REJOICE! GREAT THINGS

COME TO THOSE WITH GOOD TASTE” is used. Base on my own opinion, I think

they applied two ways of successful persuasion principles in this advertisement.

For the first principle that I found in this advertisement is message that do not appear to

change the attitude. The head title mentioned that great things come to those with good

taste, it does not directly ask people to buy their products, but it shows the tendency to

persuade the readers to buy, who ever buy those product mean that the consumers have

good taste, and who ever no buy those product mean that you have lower taste.

Besides that, the advertisement also has messages with emotional content. Free gift is

always the best way to persuade consumers to buy. If anyone buys one of those products

that had been show inside the advertisement, the company is going to give away a lot of

special free gifts to the consumers depend on price that the consumers spend. The free

gifts are so attractive. Among the free gift given away, they have the tablets in good

demand which are iPhone 6 and 6plus. They are the best enticement to the young

generations. Besides that, they also give away SONY 48” BRAVIA internet TV, SONY

home theatre, premium chocolates, and the last is the shopping vouchers worth RM2000.
