journal: abandoned title sequence
TRANSCRIPT
Journal
To start off, we were put into a group of four, working in this group
we had to decide on a film idea. My group came up with the idea of
having a haunted orphanage with mysterious disappearances of the
children who live there. After we had decided on a plot we called our
film 'Orphanage.' After creating a PowerPoint explaining our film, to
show to the class, we realised we had to change the name as people
thought the name was too original. We took many names into
consideration, including 'The home' but we finally decided to call our
film 'Abandoned.' As a group we felt that this was a well suited and
catchy title, we then started discussing potential ideas for a title
sequence. We also had to create audience profiles for our film, we
found this hard at first but we took other peoples suggestions and
were able to come up with ideas of our own. We came up with many
different ideas of what to include in our title sequence, including the
burning of a dolls house and burning children pictures.
We are working together to develop a storyboard for our title sequence and we have also decided to create a title sequence with no narrative, instead we will have various shots to create enigmas for the audience. We have chosen to do this as we feel that it will be more interesting than a narrative sequence.
Although we have not fully completed our storyboard we have already started gathering props to use including a dolls house and finding pictures to use. We have also been discussing possible locations to film, the most likely location would be partially in the woods but when we are burning the dolls house and photo's we will do that in one of our gardens to ensure that no one gets burnt.
At the moment we have decided that we will use a common nursery rhyme in the beginning of our title sequence and then as that finishes we will have a eerie track playing throughout.
We aim to finish our storyboard as quickly and thoroughly as we can, so that we have enough time to film and construct our sequence to the best of our ability
