• He came to Mumbai like millions of others, in search of a better future. Inspired by McDonald’s, Prem Ganapathy has risen from humble dishwasher to owner of the fast food chain ‘Dosa Plaza’, with 26 outlets across India.

• He neither prefect in English nor in Hindi But there is one language where Prem Ganapathy is completely at ease, and that is the language of business.

• Starting his career in the ‘restorent line’ as a dishwasher, from tea stall to roadside dosawallah, to running a small food joint near Vashi railway station. All this would not be enough for him.

• Prem Ganapathy went on to open a counter at New Bombay’s first mall – Center One – and has not looked back since.

• Today, he has copyrights and trademark for 27 of his recipes as well.

• 3 outlets in New Zealand and 2 in dubai.• And plan to open 20 more such outlets in

India.

• This college dropout went on to build India’s largest bookstore chain, and spread the reading virus far and wide.

• Sriram’s passion for books was serendipitous and led him to establish various bookstores.

• He started with Landmark in Chennai, set up Walden in Hyderabad.

• He co-founded Crossword with Ms. K. Anita in 1992 and helped build it into India’s leading bookstore chain.

• She had everything. A beautiful house, car, servants, every comfort one desires in life.

• However, what she did not have was some work to devote her time to.

• Four months after the birth of her second daughter, this feisty housewife launched ‘Fem’ fairness bleach.

• She started Fem along with her brother, and they were the first to manufacture Bleach by the name of Fem Fairness Bleach in India.

• Their strategy was simple : give a demo.• They converted the business into a 100 crore

empire which had gone on to become a world famous brand.

• In 1987 they manufactured the first creamy, coconut oil based hand soap also branded Fem, and then other consumer products like hair removing cream, Anti aging cream etc.

• She was entirely responsible for Marketing, Sales, Distribution, Exports, and Institutional Sales.

• They grew the Brand 'Fem' to a fairly large brand before they sold it to Dabur India Limited in November 2008.

• Fem is not just a cosmetic brand but the story of a woman who built a career for herself on her own, especially at a time when women did not even think of having careers for themselves.

• Sunita Ramnathkar is surely someone who gives weight to the belief that you can dream and make your dreams come true.

• Mr. M Mahadevan has been in the business of hospitality and catering for over 25 years in various capacities.

• His passion for food led him to start Oriental Cuisines Private Limited (OCPL) in May 1994 under the name of Chaitanya Gourmet Splendour Private Limited.

• It was later renamed Oriental Cuisines Private Limited (OCPL) in March 1997.

• He gave up the prestigious job of a professor in Madras University, to set up a chinese restaurant.

• Today he runs a food empire stretching across cuisines and continents.

• He has set up 42 bakeries and restaurants in the USA, Middle East, Africa, Canada, France and London.

• OCPL owns and operates units in various cities like Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Epilogue:

It has not been easy but it is possible. All this stories gives a hope, that yes, anyone can achieve anything in this country. We can have a hundred Dhirubhai Ambanis. And we must have a million like ALL this people.
