IwasinspiredbythedeforestationoccurringattheKingslandHuntingClubinKingsland,Arkansas.Treeswerecutdown,butledtothedestructionoftheanimals'naturalhabitat,including deer,turkeys,andhogs.Seeingacresoftreescutdownisagloomysight.Treesarenotonlythenaturalhabitatofalmostallanimals,buttheyalsocreateoxygenforhumans tolive.Without them,humanswouldnotbeheretoday,yetpeoplecutthemdown fortheirownselfishuses.Theenvironment isabeautifulplace,yethumansconstantlyworktodestroyit.DestructionbeganevenwhenthefirstAmericansarrivedinthenewworld.Ihoped toconveythatwithmuchhardwork,thenaturalworldcanbepreservedandreturned toitsnaturalstate.Treesarethereasonhumansexisttoday,yetpeopleconstantlycutthemdown.Humanprocessessuchastheusageof fossilfuelsproducecarbondioxide,whichisharmful totheatmosphere.Oneof theonlywaystoridtheenvironmentofthecarbondioxideisthrough trees,yetthiscannotbedone iftreesarecutdown.Throughmywork,Ihope toportraythedestructionoftheenvironment through thelogpile, thecrane,andthepathofdestruction inthetreeline.Theglimmerofhope,however, canbeseenintheonetree,whichstandstallandstrongdespitewhathappensaround it.Thistreeillustratesthathumansstillhavetheabilitytoundo thedamagetotheenvironment.Oilpastelallowsfortheblending ofthecolorsintheenvironment, yettheunnatural colorsofthecranecauseittostandout.Overall,Ihope todemonstratetheharmfuleffectsofdeforestation.
