Journey to In Person Instruction
Shifting Context
● COVID-19 numbers (purple tier) delayed implementation of in-person instruction.
● Initial idea of “stepping stone” schedule is less feasible with smaller window of time and avoiding two transitions.
● Need to increase time of in-person instruction for students.● Need stability for our students, families, and staff.● Need to settle on class lists, campus logistics, etc.● Need to be responsive and flexible and recognize the
tradeoffs of the options.

Contra Costa County Current Tier Assignment: Purple
Schools may not open fully for in person instruction until the county has been in the Substantial (Red) Tier for two weeks.
If a school had not already reopened for in-person instruction, it may not reopen until the county moves back to the Substantial (Red) Tier for 14 days.
CDPH Guidance for Schools
Wagner Ranch Elementary opened its SDC class for in-person instruction on November 3; OIS opened its SDC class on November 17.
Elementary schools may apply for a waiver from CCHS/CDPH to open while the county is in the purple tier.
