Glandwr Mill is situated in the Snowdonia National Park on the River Dwynant which is a tributary to the Mawddach Estuary. Originally forming part ofthe Glan-y-Mawddach Estate this stunning mill house is situated on the north side of the estuary between Dolgellau and Barmouth with views to the CaderIdris range of mountains. Glandwr Mill occupies a sheltered position beneath a small wooded valley in the most picturesque grounds and through whichthe river flows passing under an attractive arched stone bridge into the Mawddach. The mill comes complete with race and mill pond which have beenmeticulously restored with water turbine providing a private source of electricity.

Believed to date in part from the 17th century Glandwr Mill was converted in the mid-20th centuryand is constructed principally of stone under a slate roof incorporating a verandah at first floorlevel which connects the Mill House to the former Granary. To the front of the property is an openfronted and arched portico reminiscent in style to the work of the celebrated architect CloughWilliams Ellis.

Internally the accommodation is arranged on three floors with a magnificent first floor drawingroom overlooking the gardens and river with views to the estuary against the backdrop of CaderIdris. On the upper floors there are master and guest suites together with family bedrooms withthe benefit of oil central heating.

In addition to the main house there is an attached two bedroomed cottage which is well appointedthroughout with recently fitted kitchen currently used for holiday lettings. Within the former

Granary is a Banqueting Room incorporating a Minstrels Gallery, Pottery, Workshop and first floorGreenhouse/Conservatory. These buildings are suitable for a variety of commercial uses such asrestaurant or tea rooms subject to the availability of planning permission and have previouslyoperated as an antiques centre.

The mill race, pool and river complement the spectacular gardens and grounds which are southfacing and abundantly stocked with a profusion of colour. The area is renowned for its mildclimate with bird watching, boating and fishing on the estuary, golf at Dolgellau and Harlech andscenic walks in the foothills of Cader Idris. The seaside town of Barmouth offers a comprehensiverange of services as does the nearby market town of Dolgellau which is the administrative centrefor the area. Barmouth station is on the Cambrian line with a rail service to Birmingham NewStreet and beyond Dolgellau there is a good road network serving Chester, Shrewsbury and themotorway network.
