AGM President Report - Rhonda Verheijen
12th
March 2013
Well what another successful year the Jubilee P&F has had. I can’t believe we are here again at our
AGM.
Since last year’s AGM we have made two different changes to our constitution, one changing the way we
call for nominations to the executive positions at the AGM, and more significantly the 2nd
which has seen
the P&F implement the Sports Representative Funding Program. This program enables any current
Jubilee Student that is in a recognized school sport and goes on to Regional, State or National level could
qualify for a contribution of costs from the P&F. We have already had one Jubilee family receive this
contribution.
Once again during this past year the P&F has successfully hosted many social events. Our Mother’s Day
and Father’s Day stalls continue to provide the child with a way to buy that something special for the
ladies and men in their lives, whether that be mum, dad, uncle, aunty or Grandma and Grandpa. We are
always overjoyed to see the smiles on the kids’ faces as they walk back to class with their little gifts.
May we held our Bi-Annual Dinner once again at the Southport Sharks Function Centre, and many
laughs, good times and probably too many drinks were had by those that attended.
On behalf of the P&F, Mrs Carolyn Stewart, single handedly, hosted and catered our Biggest Morning
Tea. We thank you once again, Mrs Stewart, for the countless hours of preparation and dedication you put
in to make this event as successful as possible and for showing our community what true selflessness
Cheryl Abuid took up this challenge last year of hosting our 2 school kids’ disco, which were a roaring
success. Lots of children attended the 2 discos and showered us all with lots of laughter, fun times and
great behaviour. We were lucky to have record numbers of volunteers to help so we thank you all for your
time and commitment.
One of our pinnacle events in our P&F social calendar is the ever successful Trivia Night. Last year saw
us all theming as our favourite TV shows and wasn’t that an interesting sight. Thank you to our amazing
Trivia Team, Linda Vayro, Briand Mason, David Sewell and their merry band of volunteers, we can’t
wait to see what we are dressing up like this year.
Our 7th
Annual Family Fun Day was run in August and was another roaring success with a profit of over
$13,500, many thanks to our new sponsors. Although this was my first year to coordinate the event it
would never has been as successful without the entire school community’s help.
Finally, after much sweat and tears, we saw our Adventure Playground open and being fully utilised by
every year level. It is great to see all that hard work come to fruition and being enjoyed by all.
At the end of 2012 we said goodbye to our current Year 7 students and I would like to say thank you to
Wendy Duffy for representing the School Parent Body, and handing each graduating student an engraved
pen, which had been paid for by the P&F. From all reports it was a great night.
Our first event for 2012 was the School Swimming Carnival for Years 3-7 and although the weather was
playing with us all week we managed to run the event, which included the P&F BBQ and a profit of
$249.
The funds we have raised during the past 12 months, from P&F events like the sausage sizzles, Family
fun Day, Father’s Day stall, school disco, musical canteen have all helped us to fund the following:
Family Contributions (as per our constitution for families in need)
Morning Tea for new Prep Families
New Adventure Playground
New Ipads/Ipods
JUBILEE PRIMARY SCHOOL Minutes of Meeting
Annual General Meeting
World Teachers Gifts $160
Donations to AWL
General Expenditure for farewells, new babies and appreciation gifts.
I would like to take this opportunity to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as President of the
P&F of Jubilee and would like to sincerely thank the support and professionalism of the executive team,
that donate so much time and effort to help make Jubilee a great school. I would also like to thank each
and every one of our Parents who have taken the time to join us here at meetings, and even if tis only
been once every other month, we appreciate your continued support and hope that what we achieve here
will benefit our community as a whole, so thank you. A special thank you to those parents, teachers and
all of the administrative members who continually support the P&F by helping to coordinate functions,
volunteer their time and support the P&F as a whole with distributing information when needed.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to those of the executive team who are
stepping down tonight, Tanya Shepheard, Wendy Duffy and Cheryl Abuid, we are all honoured that you
have chosen to give of yourself as a volunteer of your time and commitment to Jubilee.
Thank you very much
Rhonda Verheijen
