SYNAGOGUE The synagogue is the Jewish house of prayer

and study

The rabbi is the religious leader and teacher of a congregation and reads from the Torah, leads the prayers and gives a sermon

Services are usually led by a cantor who leads the chanting of prayers and reads from the Torah scroll (sings the psalms). The cantor is a person with a good singing voice.

THE ARK

The Holy Ark is where the Torah Scrolls are kept. The Ark is the holiest place in the Synagogue
