Often, what looks like a 10 foot square from the front, is actually a 10 feet at the front, but 30 feet long, and 2 ft wide at the back. Every component in the picture has been "stretched" vertically. So it's an illusion within an illusion, sort of. I'll have to see if I can dig up a few pics without the optical illusion.
