DAIMATI SANTA, 17 years old (Kandha) Tribal girl of Gamkapader village
of Kundra block in Koraput District is sharing her initiative towards stop
her Child Marriage at YMCA, Delhi during Release of Report on
Eliminating Child Marriage in India on 21st July, 2017. This program had
jointly organized by Actionaid, Beti Zindabad and Child Rights Focus.
Prominent film actress of Indian film Industry Ms. Sabana Azmi had
inaugurated the report in the program. Ms. Daimati shared how her
marriage was fixed by her family and how she was able to stop her
marriage with the support of Adivasi Ekta Sangathan (AES), Koraput. She
also shared how she is working to stop Child Marriage by forming
Adolescent girls group at her village level.

Nutritional Garden at SOUL project areas
Monthly Adolescent Girls Group Meeting has
been organized at AESS project areas where
PTL/WRA and Groups were presented. The
objective of this meeting was to develop
Leadership qualities and create awareness
about child marriage, girl child education,
violence against women and women Health.
The leaders will help to create others child
leaders for work on different child related
issues with them. Various methods were
applied during the meeting i.e. painting,
songs, dance, storytelling etc. to engage the
participants. End of the meeting, the groups
prepared a six month work plan for monitor
social developmental activities i.e. monitor
School MDM, re-admission of dropout
students, awareness to stop use of alcohol and
better sanitation.
One of the major activity of AESS Project is the collection
photos of Sponsorship Children. At present, 425 Sponsor
Children are under AESS project areas . The main objective
of this activity was to collect photos of sponsorship children
and make link between Sponsor and Child in AESS areas.
We have been collecting photos in every 2 year gaps but
from this year onwards, we have a mobile application for
collection of sponsor child photos every year which will be
uploaded in the related links. The idea of the activity is
retention of supporters who is supporting children . It helps
heartily link between supporter and the child who will see
their supporters every 2 year in photos to know the
condition and status of the child.

Livelihood and Climate Change Sustainable Option for Uplifting Livelihood (SOUL)
In the month of July, 2017, the project team members
have focused to develop a model of nutrition garden
in Pichudi and Minapai villages of Rayagada. The
objective behind the model was to promote
cultivation of nutritional plants in their kitchen
garden. The amount of nutritional foods in their food
basket is always less due to their practices and food
habit. Although, they produced varieties of nutritious
foods but they don’t consume it. This activity will
help them to create awareness on important of
nutritional food in human body and how one can
easily produce in their available lands and backyard
kitchen garden. In this context, the project team
members have selected farmers i.e. Bulka Mandangi
(Pichudi) and Birdi Miniaka (Jhumuka) for develop
model of Nutritional Garden in their farming lands.
In the demonstration lands, varieties of plants i.e.
papaya, drumstick, banana & other vegetables will be
grown and some samples of composts and pesticides
also prepared for both demonstration and uses.
Nutrition Garden
The Village Action Team members of Kurumunda
village of Kutuli Gram Panchayat (Rayagada) have
successfully mobilized fund of Rs 2 lakhs from
Panchayat Samiti for construction of rest shed near
their village. Anta Miniaka, member of Village Action
Team has received the work order and monitor the
whole construction work with the support of his fellow
VAT members. This activity helped them to act jointly
and inspired them to go forward in the coming days to
achieve their planned task jointly.

In the month of July, 2017, the Childline team members have intervened 10 cases includes 1 medical, 5 shelters, 1
restoration and 3 other interventions and produced them before the Child Welfare Committee, Koraput. The team
members have successfully 160 phone tested during the outreach. Total 471 outreach hours have done in the field in
the reporting period including 81 Individual hours, 213 Small Groups and 177 Group hours.
Open House activity has been organized at High School, Dhamanahandi on dated 28th July, 2017. In the program,
participants were the children between the age of 14 to 16 years, parents, school teachers and school management
committee members. 100 participants were present during the program. The children were presented certain
important issues i.e. child marriage, child labour, road connectivity especially in rainy season during the open
house. At the end of the program, a collective plan has been developed and it has discussed to organize awareness
program on child marriage and child labour at village level. Similarly, the application will be given to the
concerned departments at GP and Block level to address the issues raised during the open house.
Sustainable Livelihood Initiative through Community Empowerment (SLICE) is one of the new projects at Ekta
which is focusing on two components of Promotion of Good Governance and Improving Food Security. Poverty
reduction through socio-economic and political emancipation of the socially excluded communities in Dasmantpur
Block, Koraput district of KBK region, Odisha State, India is the prime objective of the project. This project is
covering 2500 families in 52 villages of Gadiaguda and Mujanga Gram Panchayats of Dasmantpur block in Koraput
district.
The Project Indicators includes (1) 52 village/hamlet development committees, 2 Gram Panchayat Task Force
groups and a block level federation are in place and function well (2) 2500 socially excluded families will avail
government schemes and provisions (3) 1500 families have improved their food security at least 3 additional
months per year by better management of agricultural practices. This project is supported by Bread for the World
(BftW), German. The project has been interacted with villagers, PRIs and communities on implementation of project
and recruitment of staff in local project areas.

TARGETED INTERVENTION
On dated 6th July 2017 Mrs. Laxmipriya Sahoo, Program Officer from TSU visited railway station,
Koraput and met with Senior Inspector Mr. Santosh Kumar Swain and other railway staffs. We
discussed them for organize a health camp for migrant people at railway station and asked for support
from them to organize the program. They have given assurance to provide necessary support to the
project staffs during implement of any activities in the railway station.
Advocacy program with Railway Staffs
This is the great opportunity for Ekta to going to
start Targeted Intervention Project for Female Sex
Workers at Nabarangpur District. Nabarangpur area
is being selected for high prevalence area for HIV
Positives. On dated 27th July, 2017 Project Manager,
Counselor and ORW of TI Project visited
Nabarangpur ICTC and ART Centre. They met with
Senior Medical Officer Mr. Sankarlal Jain, Mrs.
Mansi Behera (ICTC Counselor) and other staffs
where they discussed about the TI Project and
collected some areas of Hotspots and contact details.
Supervisory Visit of Surveillance Team
On dated 15thJuly 2017, Suverlliance Team Members Mr. Arun Kumar Padhi (ADMO PH, KORAPUT), Mr. Ganeswar Panda (DPM, DAPCU), Mr. Amitav Dash (State Epidemiologist OSACS) visited our sites and verified all HIV Sentinel Surveillance Documents.
Community Rehabilitation Centre (CRC)
The CRC team members have involved in Home Based Intervention, Therapeutic Intervention and making
linkages services in their project areas. They have given priority for documentation, preparing Individual
Rehabilitation Plan for Child with Disability (IRP), Target sheet for both short term and long term goal for Child
with Disability and develop Pediatric Assessment Format. The team members have also developed assistive
devices by using local resources.

Tata Trust Vocational Training
Institute, Duruguda (Koraput) on
dated 28th July, 2017. The objective of
the training program was to create
awareness on HIV/AIDS among the
students. Different methodology
were applied i.e. game, quiz, group
discussion and presentation for
making active involvement of the
participants. In this program, 35
students ware participated.

From 1st July to 31st July, 2017
Monthly staff review meeting of July, has been organized at Duruguda, Koraput on 8th August, 2017
District level Coordination meeting organized by SSEPD department for organize Mega Camp (Samajika Surakhya Mahostava) on dated 7th July, 2017. Mr. Avinash Sinha and Mr. Simanchal Reddy were participated on behalf of the organization.
Monthly ARTC Coordination meeting was held on 11th July, 2017 at ART Center conference hall in District Headquarters Hospital, Koraput and that was presided by Nodal officer (ADMO, Medical)Ms. BharatiMahapatra, Program Officer, TI project participated on behalf of Ekta.
. On 17th July, 2017, there was an interactive meeting with the KBK Administrator with the NGOs working in the district of Koraput to know what the NGOs have been doing in their operation pockets with the support from various departments of Government. It was a nice opportunity to share and show case the success stories of the organization with him. Mr. Jagannath Mishra, Secretary of the organization represented to the workshop.
On 17th July, 2017, A preparatory meeting on organization of Distirct Level Odisha Vikash
Conclave in Koraput District was held on 20th July, 2017 at COATS, Koraput. Mr. Jagannath
Mishra attended the meeting as a representative of the Organization. Ekta has been assigned
to facilitate the program on Health & Sanitation issues.
On 17th July, 2017, Mr. Arun Kumar Hial, Program Officer, Practical Action, Bhubaneswar visited Ekta for final evaluation of Project of ACCESS supported by them. All the project staffs includes the representative of Ekta had participated in the process.
On 17th July, 2017, Mr. Soujit Das of Indian Institution of Management, Calcutta visited two days to our organization to know more about the cook stoves and its impact on the people. He visited AGMU and Production Centre and interacted with the concerned to know more about the project and its impact. He also met with the users of cook stoves promoted by Ekta at the field levels and other hand, meeting with the members of AGMU for a possible partnership on a business mode in the coming days.
On 17th July, 2017, Mr. Prabhat Kumar Paikaray represented on behalf of AGMU for a possible partnership for the promotion and business of clean cook stove at Bengaluru on 29th July, 2017.
